A great walk for adults and older (intrepid) children. The route is way-marked really clearly with yellow and white striped bands on trees or rocks (‘X’ marking the wrong way) from either the road to the bridge (just before you get to the football Stade) or from the river footpath. The route is well-maintained - slightly overgrown when we went in September - and a bit of a scramble in small sections (the best bits!). You follow a path through trees with teasing glimpses of the statue at intervals - it keeps looking beyond reach almost until you get there. The final climb up to the statue itself is a little hairy in windy conditions but the view from the top is well worth it. Our total circular route was about 5-6km and took about 2 1/2 hours. Great.
