Those families whose loved ones are interred at the Massachusetts National Cemetery are blessed to have the diligent and faithful workers - office staff, family relations, and the groundskeepers, who take care of this sacred spot. If you are considering this cemetery for your loved one, please note that the time allotted for committal services is fairly brief, so you really ought to have a funeral/memorial service prior to coming here. The staff are professional but friendly and are focused on meeting the needs of those who are grieving.

Without any advance planning we decided to make a reservation on the Cape Cod Canal Train. And, I am so glad we did. We were able to secure seats in the first class car which was great as it was not very full and due to that we could view both the left and right windows. It was so fun to watch the Canal Railway Bridge rise up to allow a huge ship to pass through. This bridge is quite an artful piece the way it is constructed and used. Once the boat had been cleared we were able to start moving on the train. They have lunch tours and dinner tours, but, we were right in the middle of the afternoon so we ordered snacks! There was a narrator on the train who regaled us with historic information along with calling special sites to view. And the views were spectacular including salt marshes, cranberry bogs, vegetation and the like. Back at the station we took a walk along the canal that was beautiful.

Spent some time on the cape this weekend, started off by parking at the marina near the Cape Cod Canal Visitors Center and walked along the canal to the jetty and then along the beach near Scusset harbor. Then moved the car a bit south to Sandwich Marina Park where we took the REAL walk, down to the Sagamore Bridge and back. Nice paved path, plenty wide for bikers and walkers, with lots of fishermen and lots of boats passing in both directions. Not much access to the path south of the Marina Park until the baseball field near Pairpont glass, so plan accordingly
