Jazz aficionados know Montreux as the home of the famed jazz festival. And where else will you find a statue of Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury? But even those who aren't music fans will find respite in this resort town on the Swiss Riviera: The wineries here are world renowned, the Chateau de Chillon is an impressive example of a medieval castle and the views of the Dents-du-Midi are breathtaking. Walk on the lake promenade, ride the cogwheel train or wander Old Montreux to taste its Edwardian flavor.

Our art gallery stands on the beautiful grounds of the Villa Murillo, in Clarens/Montreux. The Villa was built between 1894 and 1897 following the vision of a well-known architect - Eugène Jost, right in front of the Leman Lake. It offers a privileged point of view on the Dents du Midi. In an atmosphere full of history, you will find contemporary established names as well as new young talents.

I was planning on visiting a christmas market and visited this with the added bonus of seeing the caste first. Reaching there quite early (at noon) allowed us to explore the various shops in the market easily. It was a nice day to walk along the lakeside. The highlights of this market apart from the food, drinks and shops was the 'Flying Santa Claus' who comes once an hour in the evenings. I bought a SBB Montreux ticket which allowed me to get 50% discounted tickets of travel to and from Montreux as well as a discount on the Montreux Noel Mug and vin chaud. I would highly recommend this as I saved money with this and I didn't travel long distances.
