The Sango Yuntaku Kan Visitor Center opened in March 2018 in front of Aka Port, on Aka Island, with the aim of providing information to visitors about the coral reefs and other attractions of the Kerama islands. The ocean here is so transparent and such a beautiful turquoise blue color that it has coined the phrase “Kerama Blue”. The archipelago is made up of over 30 large and small islands, and home to one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world. "What exactly is coral?" / "Why is it so important?" The center can answer all your coral reef-related questions, whilst beautifully shot videos and pictures will also boost visitors' interest and understanding. Exhibitions and videos are available in multi-lingual formats. Yuntaku means "chatting" in Okinawa dialect, so please enjoy a relaxing time chatting about coral reefs with friends, family, and the museum staff.
