Along with the focal point in the Market Square the Rathaus and all the other buildings in this town are definitely worth a detour to see. Quedlinburg is No.1 in the top ten of “must see” towns according to a German newspaper, and I would definitely agree. Get along there by train or car and marvel at the buildings some dating from the 1500’s A great day out for all....plus plenty of cafes and restaurants.

My kids and I climbed up the tower and looked out over the city — it’s a great tower to explore. Each person needs to put a Euro in the slot, which is located to the far right of the gate (we didn’t see the coin slot at first, so thought it was closed). You walk through the parking lot and by the reception of the nice hotel to get there.

The cathedral is more than thousand years old and is located high above the old town with a beautiful view of the surroundings. The treasury in particular is of interest. Due to present covid 19 measures you may experience waiting time, but it is definitely worth seeing. The cathedral is undergoing some construction and the temporary entrance is via the Pastorentreppe.
