This was a trip of a lifetime, one that will be the demarcation between before Botswana and after for the very personal reason that the trip was cut short when the wonderful people of Walking Stick Travel & Tours helped me try to get home in time before my mother died. This is not your normal safari review; it’s about the quality of compassion & kindness shown & the heroic measures taken to assist me. If you’ve ever been out in the bush, or anywhere wild, you can appreciate the effort that was made to come fetch me from camp; driving in the middle of the night from Maun to deep inside the Kuwaiti Community area, Phillimon came and picked me up, got me back to the airport and then stuck with me as my world was falling apart - Phillimon took me to eat while he scouted out a place for me to stay overnight. Declining any payment, he got me settled and let me know he would be back to have dinner with me so I would not be alone and that he would take me to the airport the next day. He must have been exhausted but did not complain when I called him an hour later asking him to take me to the airport when my agent was able to book another airline. This just tells you what kind of great man Phillimon is and I haven’t even told you about how amazing the safari was up until that point. Everyone was caring, knowledgeable, competent, safety-minded and fun to be around. We saw and learned about more birds and animals than we dreamed!

We booked a sunset cruise with Christine at Kalahari tours in Kasane. The sunset cruise was exceptional. Christine went over and beyond to help us with other arrangements we had made. In October 2019 my wife and I did a 3 day (2 nights) Mokoro tour with Shipungo Safari & Tours in the Okavango Delta. Starting with the excellent organization, our experienced poler and guide with whom we had amazing experiences on our tours and the camp staff who i.a. prepared great food for us, we were very satisfied. We were also lucky not to have to share the camp with any other fellow travellers (in contrast to other tour operators who do such tours with 20 people). We would book again via Shipungo at any time and can highly recommend the company.
