With sparkling fjords lacing its coastline and soaring mountains dotting its interior, Norway could rightfully claim to be one of the world's most beautiful countries. A progressive society, thriving cultural scene, and free camping in most areas make Norway a great place to visit.

One of the top campsites in Norway. The Swiss owner takes care and the results are clean sanitaries and pitches. There is also a big kitchen and lounge. WiFi is free. For a 6 minutes shower you are charged 10 NKr. The location is opposite the Hurtigruten harbor and the fishing harbor is not far away. 5 minutes to Berleva on foot.

We were walking the St Olav's Pilgrimage and our plan was to sleep in Dovre Mountain with our tents, it was early still and we stopped at Budsjord for a break. I had read an interview on a magazine about the place some days before in Toftemo Touris Station and I was interested in seeing the place. No surprises there, as you enter the area the magic unfolds, we were told the restaurant was open for drinks and Norwegian waffles and lefse so we decided to try. I really love this type of places with a unique Norwegian character, with tradition and charm. This is what you get here, friendly service and we loved sitting there with our coffee and delicious snacks. Afterwards we order beer and sat down in the grass taking the stunning view and the sun. We checked the architecture exhibitions they had, one called No man is an Island which I found really interesting. I definitely would have loved to stay there but we were budget pilgrims who took work leave with no pay to walk St Olav's Way. One day I'll return and stay overnight and try the dinner. Oh! I wanted to stay longer but we had plans for several hours more of walking that day. I'm sure I'll be back and stay and eat in that wonderful place.

This little pension was suggested by relatives that we were visiting. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was only upon until 6 pm and we were going out to meet our relatives but would need supper afterwards, so they prepared meals for us and left them in the kitchenette upstairs shared by pension guests. The breakfast was self service, with all the usual European options available in the kitchenette. We also enjoyed a conversation with a Norwegian guest who told us he frequently traveled through the area and always stayed here. The room windows opened onto the river, so we were lulled to sleep by the sound of the water flowing by. It was very comfortable, as were the beds. It feels like this little place is busier in the winter ski season (various aspects of the place said "ski lodge", but we were comfortable and happy here in July, too.

Not a bad little spot…a few rooms in a basement of a house walking distance of boat dock. Common area to make coffee but private bathroom. Nice room…window is level with street. If you like a firm bed, bed is very firm! Toilet flushing and shower is easily heard from neighbouring room. Most negative issue….shower curtain needs to be replaced desperately…bottom is black and gross!! Mentioned it to one of the proprietors this morning.
