Himachal Pradesh ([ɦɪmaːtʃəl prəd̪eːʃ] ( listen); literally "snow-laden province") is a state of India located in North India. Situated in the Western Himalayas, it is bordered by states of Jammu and Kashmir on the north, Punjab on the west, Haryana on the southwest, Uttarakhand on the southeast, and the Tibet Autonomous Region on the east. At its southernmost point, it also touches the state of Uttar Pradesh. The state's name was coined from the Sanskrit—Him means 'snow' and achal means 'land' or 'abode'—by acharya Diwakar Datt Sharma, one of the state's eminent Sanskrit scholars.

I first met people from HCA when I asked for a direction of my hostel and they were so nice and helpful, so when I already found my stay, I strolled around and stopped by again in HCA. It was already pretty late night but Raj friendly welcomed me (even he offered a cup of coffee which I happily accepted it =)). He was so friendly and shared a lot of information about things to do in Manali. (At first, I asked for more information about cycling and he didn’t really suggest it because it was pretty crowded and packed at that time and there was also no suitable path for a biker). For me, it was really good to have a local recommendation. In the end, I decided to have a day hike to Lama Dugh because I want to maximize my short stay in Manali (and Lama Dugh looked so beautiful from the pictures Raj showed me). I went hiking to Lama Dugh with another guy, Ravi. At first, I met 3 girls who were about to off for 4 days trekking somewhere I was really envious of and they said I was so lucky to go with Ravi. In the end, they were absolutely right, Ravi is a perfect company to have a day hike in such a beautiful place. =) From the beginning, Ravi shared some practical tips that are very useful for me. I was a slow walker and he patiently adjusted to my pace. He was quiet, relaxed, warm and friendly. What I like the most from him was he gave me some space and time for myself to fully admire and enjoy the amazing nature around us yet he was still managing the trek at a constant pace with some small breaks in between the hike, so it’s not about reaching the top but to enjoy every moment we’re having that mattered the most. He was also resourceful and knowledgeable about outdoor life and for me, it was nice to be with someone who was really passionate about what they are doing. To spend some times in nature, having a good companion is important. I highly recommend HCA if you want to have good outdoor times in Manali because they are such an extraordinary professional team who will offer you not only adventure but also warm and genuine friendship. I wish to visit Manali again for other hiking trips. =)
