Alabama's largest impoundment of 69,000 acres with more than 900 miles of shoreline. Noted as an excellent bass lake and resort area. Stretches from Scottsboro to Guntersville.
This is is one of the nicest places to visit, from high upon the park you can look down on to the river and the scenery is spectacular, and at night the sunset looking down the river is spectacular. If you like to look at the wildlife a drive through the park will make the drive worth it, plenty of deer to look at and take pictures.

Eagle watching centers on Guntersville State Park and the Dam during the winter, though some bald eagles stay all year. Guntersville Lake fish habitat includes milfoil and hydilla weed beds from which big bass explode on topwater baits.
The lot by the lake was so peaceful - woke up to deer in our lot each morning - lots of places to hike - and if you like to fish - its the ticket.

Our family of five was here for a wedding at the State Park Lodge. Very nice grounds, great scenic views of mountains, valleys, and Lake Guntersville. There is a zip line with two levels, lake activities, and hiking. We found emus, donkey, and goats along with a small cave that we explored. The zip was fun, and we enjoyed the short hike to the cave that we explored. Camping and boat launches are available.
