Bayfield, at the northern tip of Wisconsin, on the shores of Lake Superior, is the main gateway to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore, a series of pristine islands known as "The Jewels of Lake Superior." Camp, hike, kayak, scuba dive and sail amongst these 21 islands, exploring hidden sea caves, six historic light stations and forgotten ship wrecks. The mainland is a popular destination for art lovers, with a large community of local artisans operating galleries and workshops.

Outstanding, definitely one of the better narrated scenic cruises we've experienced. Our 2-1/2 hour Grand Tour was conducted by a lifetime local resident who grew up on the water and had a wealth of information to share. The ice caves on Devil's Island alone are worth the trip.

We thoroughly enjoyed our walk down the well-maintained trail, looking at wildflowers and peeking through the trees to see Lake Superior. Public directions to the trail led us to driveways and docks, howeverer. Here’s the deal, in town, the trail begins on the southwest corner of South Third Street and Wilson Ave. There’s a government office just east on Wilson. There’s a gazebo marking the entrance to the trail. Before or after your walk, go across Wilson to a lovely garden planted around ships and canoes—charming.

Meyers Beach sea caves are located just North of Cornucopia, Wi. There are caves at the the Northern end of Mawikwe bay and one cave at the South end of Mawikwe Bay.
The sea caves at Meyers Beach are breathtaking... hiking the trails and then kayaking among them was an out-of-this-world experience for my Husband and I.
