Walking through the old Barreiro, we find a public garden and a band-stand, both from the 20s, in the XX century. A garden with Jacarandas, Tipuanas trees, Bella-Sombras and a lake. It’s the oldest garden in Barreiro. The band-stand, built by the City Hall of Barreiro, reuses the old street lighting columns, linking us to the strong associativism lived at the time.
The Municipal Park, opened in 2000. It has several valences like a playground, a climbing wall, areas to play traditional games, a chess area and also a coffeehouse with an outside zone. Here you can also find the Municipal Auditorium Augusto Cabrita (AMAC), a multifunctional space with a concert hall and a room for temporary exhibitions.
Directly managed by the Crown, the Complexo Real Vale do Zebro was composed by 27 biscuit ovens, wheat warehouses, boarding deck and a tidal mill with 8 grinders- the biggest one on the region- also by a vast surrounding area of pine forest, explored directly by the Crown. After the 1755 earthquake, Vale do Zebro facilities where quite altered. The building belongs to the Marinha Portuguesa.
