Sunset Pier Park

I’ve been twice now having googled for a good close spot to watch the sunset. It wasn’t wrong. Very easy elevated walkways. Mosquitoes immediately attack as soon as the sunsets so wear bug spray. Also they put the gate up at 8 so if the sunsets at 8:25, park on the street around the park.

I Googled best places to watch the sunset and this place came up. Luckily it was very close to where we are staying on Mayport. I was so pleasently surprised when I saw the park. It is well tended with an abundance of wild life. We say all types of sea birds, crabs, even a bunny.

Dutton Island Preserve

This little hidden Island of Dutton Island Rd from Mayport Rd. You drive a short causeway if you are driving. Now the westside of the park has a bike trail that will take to you to the Island. You can explore the trails at the first parking lot where the bike trail is too. If you follow the road or bike trail to the island, you can explore south and northern part. Norther part has some historical markers. They actually tried to raise shrimp there. Also the original owner had plans to buy the Queen Mary , anchor it off shore and ferry people from Dutton Island to gamble. It didn't happen.

Atlantic Beach

Water was cold but the beach itself is beautiful with soft sand! The boys had a great time digging and building sand castles! Just remember to fill in any holes that you dig as there was a sign warning that sea turtles could get stuck in them on their way to the water!
