We've gone on a tour of a coal mine, a quarry, and various other such occurances. This tour takes the cake! I learned so much about the region, the copper mining process, and geology!! Our guide was very proficient in English and because there were only six of us who spoke English, we had a very private tour. If you are in the area, this is a MUST! Absolutely worth every penny!!! Oh and if you bring/wear some warmup pants and a sweatshirt, you'll probably thank yourself.

Quebec’s tourist attraction: an open pit crystal mine located in Lac-St-Jean, close to Saguenay. *Mineral initiation activity for the whole family outdoors. *Hike with crystal dig: A guided tour that will allow you to dig your own crystal quartz from an open pit mine. An educational approach with our prospector to learn more about crystal extraction and regional geology. *Express-Prospection: Sluice a bag of mining rough, like in the Klondike era while keeping your gemstones and fossils. * Shocking pearl oysters: Assist a shocker specialist and discover your natural pearl that you can also set on site by an artisan * Museum: Visit our crystal gallery, with more than 100 specimens coming directly from the mine site a few kilometers from the activity center. Discover world’s minerals in our Boutique.

This location is listed as "La Cite de l'Or". It should be (or should also be) listed as the Lamaque Mining Village since it is now (since 2012) a National Historic Site. The Mine and the Mining Village and other relevant buildings are located in the former village of Bourlamaque which was amalgamated with the Town of Val d'Or. This location is listed as a museum and what a museum it is !!! It covers several streets of homes, bunk houses, clinics, etc., all of which were associated with the mine during its 50 years of operations. This is a must-see location for anyone who is interested in Canadian and Quebec Heritage.

Canada's geological gem, Mine Cristal was founded in 1989 by Gaudry and Pauline Normand. Extracted by hand in a 300 million-year-old massive white quartz vein located in Bonsecours, Quebec, Canada, the pure quartz crystals are said to be among the most beautiful in the world. The store sells crystal singing bowls, Quartzophone® musical instruments and crystals; there is also a museum. Artisans work in the shop in the back, creating and making by hand unique Quartzophone musical instruments using pure quartz crystal tubes.
Theres a problem I need a rating for 10 stars instead of 5 for these guys! GODSEND! Gaudry's new Quartzophone H3 is the most peaceful musical instrument. My mom has alzheimer's, its so peaceful its calming her nervous system. She cant tolerate drugs and this soothes her soul. The love and peace is now surrounding her through the Quartzophone. It's small, so light, and powerful in sound. Its my new favourite thing they have at Mine Cristal. These guys are the purest highest vibration of crystal OM I have ever experienced. Pauline and Gaudry Normand's Mine Cristal is the only place i'll be shopping for my therapeutic sound tools and magic crystals for the rest of my life. Sincerely, Cathy Chapman.
