My spouse and I spent four nights at Villa Romana Relax Suites and mostly enjoyed our stay. The hotel’s location is great if you are driving in the area: it takes only about 15 minutes to the Pompeii ruins and 30 minutes or so to the Amalfi Coast (if you don’t take the mountain route, which is about two hours…). The nearby restaurant selection is rather meagre (pizza and junk food), so make sure to stock up if you drive by the Auchan 6 km away. For some excellent pizza, visit Ristorante Pizzeria Degli Amici 700 m from the hotel. As the hotel is in a small village, it’s very quiet at night (unless you operate the motored "curtains", which make you feel like there's a jet engine in the room). We had a room facing away from the mountains and the view was quite spectacular at sunset. The room itself was not much to look at, so we appreciated the balcony all the more. The few pieces of furniture we had were dated and some broken, and the adjacent bathroom hadn’t probably been looked at since the 70s. The shower handle kept falling off and hot water came and went. We’d booked a room with a bathtub with the intention of using it, but as there was no plug (didn’t get one either when we asked), we just took our bath bombs back home. There was some sort of styrofoam contraption under the fridge and it made a mighty squeak every time the door was opened. There was a kettle for boiling water but no cups or glasses. The room was supposed to be cleaned once during the stay, but the staff did not visit at all. We didn’t mind much (one doesn’t need fresh towels every day), but as it was still about +30 degrees during the day the trash started to stink a bit towards the end and attracted flies. We had breakfast included and it was served outside in the backyard at a time we could choose. The service and food quality/quantity were unfortunately quite poor. Some days we got plates, some days we didn’t. We’d get one stale slice of bread each and yesterday’s croissants, cereal but no milk and muffins/biscuits long past their use-by date. The staff was friendly but it seemed like running the hotel was not what they were really interested in (we assumed they were from the same family). Make sure you know a bit of Italian if you stay here. The hotel was reasonably priced and served our needs (hence rating it as average), but is not for someone expecting more than the bare minimum.

Il luogo era bello e molto confortevole Molto vicino a Napoli, Pompei e la costiera sorrentina. Abbiamo trovato la festa annuale del paese. I proprietari sono molto disponibili e offrono ricche colazioni
