Tamarind Great House

We offer our guests at Tamarind a unique environmentally-friendly setting providing luxury accommodation at very affordable prices. Secluded waterfalls, plantation tours, James Bond Beach and Noel Coward's Firefly are only a few of the nearby attractions. Ocho Rios is a 30 minute drive, with its varied activities, such as botanical gardens, the famous Dunn's River Falls, Dolphin Cove as well as Mystic Mountain tree top tours. Of course there are lots of restaurants and duty free shopping, as well as a large local craft market. Tamarind Great House is built on the site of an original planters estate, first built in the 18th century. The house has solid wooden floors from locally sourced trees throughout the downstairs, with antiques and locally made furniture to enhance the feel of colonial Jamaica. Our guests enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Tamarind, with its spacious bedrooms and large balconies. Our 13 acre farm produces fresh organic fruits and vegetables used in our kitchen. The road to Tamarind is a Jamaican country road, and the scenery to the house shows you every side of the real Jamaica. We are an owner run guest house, therefore catering personally to your requests. Away from the main road, a relaxed and safe setting, surrounded by verdant hills, tropical flora and fauna.

Off the beaten track

A great rebuilt colonial-style house, very big, with big rooms, beautifully located in the middle of a former plantation, with pool, garden, great views etc. It is quite a few kilometres off the coastal road, along a potholed road up the hills. Not signposted until the very last turn shortly before the premises, so be prepared with a good map or a gps (we didn't have that and it took us several interviews with the locals at night to find it). Once there, you will be impressed, though. Nice owners who care for their guests. We were the only ones there since it was end of the low season. If you want to have taste of Jamaica that is different from the mass tourism resorts along the coast, this is definitely a place to consider. Apparently also popular with local folks who want to escape e.g. the huzzbuzz of Kingston over a long week-end and enjoy tranquil hillside scenery, whilst being still close to the coast.

Green's Palace Jamaica

Needed to get some rest and relax

I checked in the Green's Palace on Sunday May 8, 2016. I had the master bedroom with the a/c. The place was clean, spacious and well kept. Miss Beverley gave us a tour and I had a wonderful time. yes I would recommend this place to all my friends. one draw back is they need to update tv to flat screen and put a/c in all rooms other than that a 5 stars for me. My niece arrived from NY on Tuesday and I recommend The Green's Palace and she was impressed. She stayed from Tuesday to Saturday.
