Built in 1501, the house was initially a convent, and then the private residence of the Souvigny family, relatives of the Countess du Barry , before finally becoming a noted hotel of its time at the end of the 19th century . Frescoes from the 17th century, a preserved stained glass panel and a remarkable stair case, remain the highlights of the building. Today the hotel offers 13 rooms and suites, complete with TV, free Wifi, mini bar, air conditioning and marble bathrooms. To discover also our Gourmet Restaurant Tantine et Tonton with service on the patio, weather and season permitting.
What a total disaster this so called "hotel". The rooms are in urgent need of total renovation but please start with new beds, linens and pillows. We did not/could not sleep because of the horrible mattress and pillows. No extra toilet roll in the bathroom! Why? Breakfast is OK, nothing special. The place looks runs down, clean up! We got a lecture about wearing a face mask BUT no one did! We had to use the public bathroom in the cellar (as there was no toiletpaper in the room) and I would not advice anyone to go down there.....you are not alone....

La Maison Ville-Limoux offers two self-catering apartments and a studio. Dating back from 1780, this lovely home has many period features including fabulous original floors. Located in the heart of Limoux it is close to cafes, restaurants and many small local shops. The Marcel Suite and Viviane Suites are luxurious and spacious and each have a private shower room, Living room, Bedroom and a well equipped kitchen. They have simple decoration and are furnished with antique and period furniture. The bedrooms are double glazed and have electric shutters and central heating. The Garden Studio is a new addition, it is original, shabby, comfortable and very different - you will either love it of hate it!!! There is an attractive shared Cour with seating and dining area, an ideal place to read and enjoy a glass of wine or to have a BBQ. Free WiFi access is available throughout. There is off site free public parking (less than 1 minutes walk). Carcassonne Airport is located 19 km from the property. Limoux is has plenty to discover and wine to taste, it is also an ideal base to visit Carcassonne to the north and the Cathare Castles and Pyrenees to the south. You can hire bicycles locally as there are plenty of routes through the vines to ride or walk.
My friend and I rented both one bedroom apartments in this wonderful row house just off the main square. The front apartment is a little more stylish with a modern bathroom and the back apartment has a large traditional eat-in kitchen. Both are lovely in their own way. The owner is lovely and very helpful. There is no A/C but the fan in the bedroom keeps it comfortable with the thick stone walls.

I paid 49 Euros for a Sunday night, tired, not wishing to drive home after a fun day of rafting on the Aude. The owner was courteous, offering me a chance to go look at the room before deciding to take it. The stairs seem to be original to the building with a certain angle to them which made me chuckle, but the proportions to them were fine, so not on hard on the knees. The hot shower was fabulous (I was cold to the core from rafting.) The heater in the bathroom worked well as did the hair dryer. The restaurant/bar/cafe downstairs was pleasant and for the non-French speaking clientele the waiter spoke fairly decent English. The duvet cover wouldn’t win any design awards, but was fine. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The AC with remote worked well. The double set of doors separating the room from the staircase, meant I didn’t hear anyone coming or going during the night. I did not choose the breakfast option, but did notice the sizable breakfast-dining room available for hotel guests, totally separate from the restaurant downstairs. The location was fabulous, right on Limoux’s town square, with it’s cafes, restaurants, and people watching. The paint in my room could probably use a touch up, but for what I paid, I have absolutely no complaints and plan to return during Limoux’s famous Carnival season (leading up to Mardi Gras).

Stopped for a few nights at Palazzo Fiorio Chambres D'Hotes in Limoux, a great little town about 20 minutes from Carcassonne. It was built by an eccentric Italian in the early 20th Century, to host performances and artists. It is a unique place to stay and I had a large characterful bedroom with a compact shower room. The lavatory was separate but handy. Jackie, originally from New Zealand, was host during my stay and she prepared an excellent breakfast each day and really enhanced the trip by recommending some fascinating places to visit. Staying here was a lot of fun and Limoux itself was lovely.
