Set on a hill overlooking Lake Constance, this 4-star hotel in Güttingen is just a 10-minute walk from the lakeshore. Renovated in 2014, it features a restaurant, a sun terrace, and free private parking. Classic Swiss cuisine and international dishes can be enjoyed at the Seemöwe's à la carte restaurant. There is also a country-style bistro bar, a large lakeside terrace, and a glass pavilion overlooking the lake. The rooms have a seating area, flat-screen TV, large desk, minibar, and a bathroom with hairdryer. Most have a view of the lake. The garden features a children's playground. Guests can rent electric bicycles to explore the surroundings and use the nearby Bodensee Bicycle Trail. The underground car park at Hotel Restaurant Seemöwe can be used at an additional cost. Kreuzlingen and Romanshorn are a 13-minute drive away.

Not impressed

We stayed at Seemowe for one night. The room was basic without decoration. It was quite stuffy in the room; we had to use a fan. The breakfast was fine, but the staff did not replenish foods as needed. An average stay.

A Quiet Retreat

Having read previous reviews we knew what to expect for our overnight stay. Sokrates is more of a retreat/spiritual/seminar-type hotel. Large and airy public areas and bright spacious modern bedrooms. Plenty of shelving/hanging space, two armchairs, and two safes! Wide balcony with a table and chairs outside the patio doors although it was not private i.e. other guests could walk by. Complimentary water but no fridge. There was also complimentary tea at a "station" outside our room for guests to enjoy though no coffee. The bathroom was a wet room (shower area with shower curtain) which is not my favourite style though it was good enough. The double bed was two singles pushed together (often the case in Swiss hotels) and the lack of wifi in the room was a little inconvenient. The dining area was spacious and both dinner and breakfast were good.

I spent only one night in this hotel close to the lake. I consider it a good experience. Nice rooms, clean, quite, big enough and recently adjusted. Good price and very good breakfast. Camere silenziose pulite e sufficientemente grandi. Arredate bene Buona colazione

Gasthaus Schiff

Terrible customer service

Reviewed By Jarek B

I should have read these reviews before coming here. It's the same story for us as for other guests who dined at the restaurant. We came with 4 adults, 2 children for dinner. First surprise was that children "aren't allowed" to drink from their own water bottles. We must buy water for them. The menu is written in a very difficult to read font and as foreigners, we needed some help to understand what the dishes were. One lady spoke English and was helpful. The other was just rude and walked away without offering any help. We should have left then but it was late and everyone was hungry so we proceeded to order. The food was good but very simple- fish filets, 1 sausage, some schnitzel for kids and a salad. Water and beer to drink. 146CHF. Avoid this place. Drive 30 min to Konstanz for better service and save some money!
