Yokohama is easily accessible from Tokyo, but there’s enough to see and do here that it’s worth more than a day trip. Visit Minato Marai 21, a popular, modern neighborhood with great shopping and tons of restaurant options. TripAdvisor travelers also recommend stopping at Big Wharf (Osanbashi Pier), a uniquely shaped pier with spectacular views.

Surrounded by the ocean and splendid greenery, the port city of Yokohama is the symbol of Japan's opening to the outside world. Though one of the first areas in Japan to welcome foreign cultures, Yokohama has throughout the years preserved its own unique style, as well. The Noren Red Brick Warehouse store has the city's retro vibe, while it also serves as a place to spread the beauty of Japan.

Awesome place to find Pokémon merch you won't find anywhere else! And if Pokémon isn't your thing, there's other anime stores in the building. When I visited there was both a Shonen Jump store and a Studio Ghibli store a floor or two below the Pokémon Center. I visited in 2012, so this may be outdated.
