We enjoyed visiting this lavender farm. The owners were really friendly and even gave us a quick tour/info session. There are also a wide range of high quality lavender based products on sale at a very reasonable price. We were pleasantly surprised that there was no entry fee. It was worth the 40 minute drive from Hamilton.

Very helpful, willing ladies as staff. Had some surplus garden products to give away too. Good handy place to sit outside with laptop for internet connection. Lots of varying priced gifts on sale. Some rather expensive but nice.

Very close to Te Awamutu, a very easy walk through a mature stand of ancient Kahikatia trees with an elevated platform to get you in amongst them.

Kakepuku is a beautiful mountain with a great walk to the summit. It is a tough walk but is definitely worth it. The bird life is great and the views are amazing.

This small park is 100% roses with a lovely fountain and when in bloom they are spectacular. It isn't quite as quiet and peaceful and private as it used to be as the town council (in all their wisdom??) decided to build a children's playground immediately next door. The noise level can be disturbing if you want solitude. I guess the idea was that adults could let the kids play while the oldies enjoyed the roses (but you can't appreciate the roses and keep your eye on kids at the same time). So if you enjoy peaceful, go when kids are in school.
