Just two kilometres off the main road to the North Cape is the picturesque fishing village of Kamøyvær. The idyllic setting and opportunity to meet the artist make the detour well worthwhile. A visit can easily be combined with a trip to the North Cape.
I already started noticing some cool unique paintings up in the North Cape Center and then in a few places in Honningsvåg so then I wasn't so surprised when I saw the gallery "West of the Moon", but unfortunately it was closed due to covid, so I investigated a bit and found out there was a sister gallery in Kamøyvær so I headed there and found "East of the Sun" which, luckily, although it was closed, the artist, Eva Schmutterer lives close by and could stop by and let me have a look inside. Very cool unique paintings and ways to present them. Don't miss this place, you won't regret it.

No adventure to the North Cape is complete whiteout visiting the most northern part. The trail is 9Km and it is quite ruff terrain so expect that it will take around 6h to walk. But it is well worth it.

Our gallery in Honningsvåg is located just a few minutes' walk from the harbour and from Scandic Honningsvåg. Its convenient location makes it ideal for visitors with a busy sightseeing schedule. Moreover, it is open all year round.
Great place to buy original and beautiful souvenirs from Norway (and easy to pack.) They sell paper art, miniature cloth reindeer and other artistic creations. It was a Sunday. As we glanced through the window, the shop manager opened early for us. Although skeptical about going here (because the cruise ship excursion guides recommended it), we were pleasantly surprised.

The municipality’s oldest building, constructed in 1885. After WWII it was home for the population while the remaining buildings were reconstructed.
This church seems to be the only one in Honningsvag and has a cemetry attached as do many small town churches.

I was so intrigued by the statue, I bought the book Sea Dog Bamse—World War II Canine Hero available in the Honningsvag museum, which also deserves a visit.
