The Blackhawk bridge is more than 85 years old having first been established as a toll bridge between the 2 states. On certain nights of the year, the lights on the bridge are turned on. It is relatively narrow with only 1 lane in each direction. There is a bit of a "roller coaster effect" when you drive both onto and off the long middle section of the bridge, thus making it important that drivers follow the 25 mile per hour limit. The bridge is slated to be replaced in a few years by a wider, taller bridge to meet current day regulations. Well worth crossing and seeing the lovely river/town views and the very impressive bridge design.

This interpretive center is top notch. It’s a gorgeous building, free admittance, nice gift shop, and awesome exhibits about history, geology, nature, and culture.

Award Winning wines in the heart of Northeast Iowa’s Driftless Area. Our quaint and comfortable tasting room is a granary, in which the oldest signature we’ve found is from 1895. We planted our first vineyards in 2003, the source of our International Double-Gold awarded dry red. Wines for every taste. Outdoor seating available. Beautiful and Bucolic country setting, way off the beaten track.

I live in central Iowa and anytime I go to NE Iowa I make it a point go to Horsefall Variety Store in Lansing ! If he doesn't have it ,you don't need it . Like talking to Paul (the Owner )when I go there , he's a good old Swede from Decorah that just came to Lansing and stayed LOL . They have two stores on Main St. the East one closest to river is a little more unsettled , but oh the stuff ( I call it the Eighth Wonder of the World ). The other one is on the other side of the Farm - Hardware Store that is in between in it, it is a real treat , been it business for years ( takes you back in time ) . The west store of Horsefalls as I call the( High class store) is more orderly , but just as much as fun. When ever someone tells me they're going to NE Iowa I tell them that Horsefalls is a must see !!
