Half-mile long trail for experienced hikers at Acadia.
Really enjoyed the workout that I got this morning but I didnt expect to climb a mountain when I set out to do some hiking. This trail is INTENSE! Dont go if its raining or has been raining, get there early! Like 7 AM early. You dont want to do this trail when tons of people are on it. Its challenging but do able. You CANNOT be afraid of heights and do this trail. I think this trail is the craziness hike i have every done or will ever do. The one great thing about the hike is that there are metal rails everywhere to help you get up the straight up parts of the hike. If you want a challenge a big challenge then try this hike. Also remember that this hike is only one way!

Acadia National Park mountain where visitors can take a horse-drawn carriage ride.
The Day Mountain trail is fairly easy and even though the summit is barely under 600 feet above sea level, the views to the south overlooking the Cranberry Islands are worthy of a much more difficult climb. The best views are actually before you reach the actual summit from an outcropping near the top. A carriage trail also winds up the side of Day Mountain and the trail crosses the road two or three times on the way up. There are no real challenges along the way so the trail is suitable for anyone in reasonably good health and fitness level.

I loved how that Beach was not well know and no people were here. There is a paved and gravel parking spots on the right side of the road across from the staircase that leads you down to the Beach. You have to watch carefully for the pull-off that is right after the Otter cliffs on the one way street. The beach is covered in large rounded stones that when the tide rolls over them that make an amazingly cool noise ~ I could stay here for the whole day.

We did Dorr mountain via the Ladder trail and having done the Beehive trail thought it would be similar - nope! There is one (maybe two) iron rung ladders and about a million steep stone steps - it was pretty brutal but if you just take your time then it is do-able and will leave you with a great sense of satisfaction when you reach the summit which has stunning views! Definitely a challenging hike but a worthwhile one if you want to push yourself.
