We stopped at Mavellam on the drive back from Coimbatore to Bangalore via Sathiya Mangalam forests. We drove there on Sun afternoon/early eve. The roads were not great and traffic was bad with heavy trucks lining-up the hair-pin bends. It was quite an ordeal to cross them and get to Mavellam. Once we crossed the traffic, it was pleasant drive through the hills/forests. Mavellam resorts was nestled in the woods. Very quiet and away from civilisation. They have 4+ rooms (each with a large bed and 2 bunk beds) clean/hygienic, and good home-made food. Highly recommend for a no frills chill-out experience.

As i was a traveller from Bangalore around 120kms distance..The Savoy farm stay experience was very bad for us . As the name says it's farm stay the overall environment was completely dry which did not even look like a farm house . The rooms were quite normal which made us feel that staying in a hotel was better as there was no much difference. The swimming pool had dirty water which was of no use for us and it looked like a dirty pond rather than a swimming pool . The internet showed very good images of the farm house but in reality the property is very old and not maintained well. A lot of bugs were there at night due to which we were not able to sleep. And when communicated regarding this to the staff they behaved unprofessionally and did not give any proper response for the same . Also the farm stay looked isolated as there were not many ppl around . And the place was not entertaining as there were no much activities to do for the ones staying there . Coming to the food - cost was too high and taste was really bad and we found it a total waste to eat here. Coming to the owner - was not at all co operative due to which our issues were not resolved.

Welcome to Pathayam Make your stay peaceful, pollution free and memorable with country environment. we welcome you cordially to pathayam which is going to be one of your dream places to give you a wholesome stay. you can enjoy your stay from the morning’s dew drops till the night’s mist. the alternative infrastructure and natural environment is going to amaze you. a space for cultural and literary
Wow!!! What a place it was....From the entering point, our excitement started. It was a lively experience with nature. Everything in pathayam is a remembrance of our ancient life style. Definitely you can enjoy the peace & calmness of the place. you can even hear the signings of birds. Guest houses & Auditorium have been built with natural stones ( Karungal). Really a stress buster from the mechanical life we live. I suggest the place for all nature lovers. I will visit again soon.

Had a excellent experience... We went for lunch.. This place offers a excellent view with lush green open space. By far the best place in coonoor to spend a day in the greens with some home cooked food.. Very cordial staff and a warm host makes the place even better... Must go!!

We took the Non-Deluxe rooms. It has a sit out, living room, a small kitchen cabinet/table area in the living room and an attached bedroom. Its a duplex kind of cottage where the bedroom and toilet is on the -1 floor (like a bunker, but actually not) and sit out and living room on the ground floor. Select this cottage only if you have own vehicle since it is in the suburbs - hardly 2-3 km from Kodaikanal bus stand. It is a perfect place for the family since it is like a home only. There is a very good lawn and areas outside the cottage to relax. Cleanliness, bed sheets, cots and furniture are not up to the marks, but they are planning to renovate the entire non-deluxe cottages to deluxe. The deluxe cottages (recently renovated) are up to the standards and look very nice. The rent at the farmhouse is 950 for non deluxe and 1800 for deluxe (all on a single floor with out a kitchen.) but you can find lower prices online. If you need a heater, you have to ask for it, otherwise, you will not get one on default. The toiletries (bath towels) bed sheets and bed quality need to be improved and it is expected along with renovation. The staff (only 2 guys) Manoj and Satish are very helpful. No canteen facilities as of now, but they are planning to have a restaurant very soon along with renovation. I'm sure that, after renovation, this could be the best budget farmhouse/cottage in Kodaikanal (if they keep the same rates)
