The department is located in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees, and is named after the Dordogne river that runs through it. The best travel experience of 2019 was lunch at Le Chalet on the banks of the Dordogne River in Pont de Vitrac 24250 Domme. The food and service at this Brasserie and Snack Bar are excellent! There is the added bonus of watching canoes on the river and families on the beach. The cliffs immediately in front of the restaurant are awe inspiring! One of my favourite places on Earth!

David was very responsive, he is punctual and efficient. He gave us just the right amount of information about the place, didn't overdo with too many stories or talked non-stop giving us time to take photos and enjoy the sights. He also gave us some very good restaurant suggestions in Sarlat and knew a way to avoid the traffic jams into Sarlat town. His car was comfortable and booking and paying for the tour was easy, all done through email.
Bergerac is a charming city, nestling along the banks of the Dordogne. The old town is well- known for its half-timbered buildings. Admire the Cloître des Récollets, a 12th-century cloister and now the heart of the city, that showcases the region’s wine. Discover the statue of Cyrano de Bergerac and know the interesting story about him and his infamous big nose. As you stroll around the streets of the city you will be fascinated by the pretty houses painted in bright colours, lovely squares to explore, and a variety of shops.
