The 5 Best Cooking Classes in Marylebone, England

July 19, 2021 Almeta Stockton

The crown jewels, Buckingham Palace, Camden Market…in London, history collides with art, fashion, food, and good British ale. A perfect day is different for everyone: culture aficionados shouldn't miss the Tate Modern and the Royal Opera House. If you love fashion, Oxford Street has shopping galore. For foodies, cream tea at Harrod’s or crispy fish from a proper chippy offers classic London flavor. Music and book buffs will love seeing Abbey Road and the Sherlock Holmes Museum (at 221B Baker Street, of course).

My son and I had a fantastic day on Saturday at the cookery course, made all the more enjoyable by the hosting and training from Giancarlo, he is a truly inspirational chef and person and his company is most enjoyable, he makes you welcome and trains in a unique way that helps embed the philosophy he subscribes too. I learnt that less is more, using the best ingredients is critical. The above is why we as a family visit the restaurant for special occasions and it is our favourite Place to eat.

I attended the "Cook the Books" masterclass with chef Chris King, the Executive Chef of the Langham Hotel. From start to finish the experience was slick, amazingly run, professional and yet relaxed. The newly created cook school is the perfect space for the course, full of beautiful furnishings and homely touches. The kitchens as you would expect are top notch with an incredible range of professional equipment. After a relaxed welcome, accompanied by delicious coffee and pastries, the group had time to chat and break the ice, before the day of cooking unfolded. With just the right amount of guidance from chef Chris we were shown a myriad of techniques, from preparing artichokes to making the perfect ile flottante. The level of cooking was just right for the keen home cook, with every tricky phase explained and modelled with extreme skill. The others on the course were at a range of skill levels and everyone managed to produce excellent food by the end. The ingredients were fantastic and the range of food prepared just right. The other chefs helping Chris were highliy skilled and clearly at the top of their game. Getting to eat the food as we went through the day in the beautiful dinging area, with matched wines made the whole experience the perfect blend of cooking and eating and felt unique in its quality. A fantastic day and highly recommended for anyone looking to upskill themselves in the kitchen and impress at their next dinner party!
