Only open on Friday nights and its free (gold coin donation). Volunteers travel from Roxby Downs (approx. 80kms away) to open it. The night we went the sky was magical. A must in Woomera.

This is a must stop visit to see the beautiful salt crystals glistening. You can walk right down to the Lake and experience nothing like it. You can see sticks crystallised in salt and it is mesmerising. I picked up a small crystal and yes, definitely salt! Fantastic stop and highly recommend.

Oh my goodness, what a real treat to see this magnificent and informative display. So much to take in and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Never knew what really went on here and to see all the testing, prototypes and actual fragments left behind is simply amazing. Very clean public toilets too!

It was disappointing that when we were there (Friday 11th Sept 2020) the entire visitor centre was closed for renovations. Unfortunately, the ten open bowling alley is within the centre so we couldn't even see or play. Museum wasn't even open. Thankfully as we were there on a Friday, we did go to the observatory and marvelled at the clear night sky.

An great place to visit for both children and adults. We were here on a Monday and unfortunately it was the only attraction open. Neither the adjacent museum nor the cinema or heritage centre (which was advertising open 7 days a week) showed any sign of visitors. Certainly a very quiet day. It was like a ghost town. Not the way to attract tourists!
