Beautiful views of the Chattahoochee river. There are 2 different areas. The first spot you come to has the great views with swinging seats to relax and watch the water. Has a paved walkway. There is a great playground and a pavilion for picnics. There are restrooms. There is a trail and the trail head is to the left of the restroom. The problem was we had no idea how long the trail was. The map said it had 3 overlooks. We started out and got to what might have been an overlook but we weren't sure. We turned around because trail was really muddy after a big rain. It was a nice walk in the woods. The parking lot is not that big so I am guessing it would be hard to get in during the summer. Further down the road on Georgia Power property is access to the river and a dog park. Another small parking area.

The Chattahoochee River National Recreational Area is a unique national park site in that it is made up of multiple units throughout the Atlanta area. My daughter and I visited the Island Ford area where the park visitor center is located in Hewlett Lodge. She filled out a junior ranger booklet in the lobby and was able to complete enough activities to earn a new badge. All of the rangers we interacted with were very nice and extremely helpful. There is a large parking area around the visitor center that does require a fee. There are pay stations outside where you display a receipt after paying. We walked along the trail behind the visitor center that runs by the river. There were quite a few people tubing and hanging out in the water. We walked by some of the large rock formations before heading back. We also went a few minutes down the road to visit the Vickery Creek unit. We parked in the Mill park area and took a short hike to the waterfall. We enjoyed our first visit to the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area and hope to visit other units in the future.

The Museum is tucked in the back of a small shopping center on a busy street, Roswell Road. It offers a large number of photographs and commentary from her birth in Germany, to her move to Amsterdam and ultimate fate near the end of the War. Her family was on the very last train from Amsterdam to the camps before the War ended in Holland.

My grandchildren absolutely LOVE the unique play structures in this park! All of the pieces were commissioned by hospitals and private companies and constructed by different artists. The 'playground' is between the paved walkway and is a safe distance from the fence that is next to the street. There are benches with trees and flowers along the walkway and the surfaces under the play structures are a soft and fast-draining material. The area is kept clean and the grounds maintained by volunteers. Admission is FREE. Completely worth an hour or two for children with a LOT of energy!
