Who knew tucked back in the woods would be an opening along the bay that provided playground areas for kids themed with sea creatures, multiple fishing piers with easy access, plenty of parking and shoreline to kayak or birdwatch. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit so much so that we added the annual pass knowing that we will be back. Who knew?

This is a shortcut to get across the ship channel. Just on the south side is a great seafood restaurant called "Monument Inn". If you use the ferry, you essentially get "Dinner & a Cruise"! Ferry only takes a few minutes, so it is pretty short. If you want a longer ferry, ho go Galveston and take the Galveston ferry over to Bolivar Peninsula. That is about 20 minutes, but usually you will see dolphins.
