Sitting on a peninsula surrounded on three sides by Glacier Bay National Park, the only way to arrive in Gustavus, a small town with fewer than 500 permanent residents, is by boat or plane. Once there, you can stock up on supplies, plan a tour into the park, charter a whale watching boat or just appreciate the solitude and beauty of such an isolated place. Wander the quiet beaches, gathering wild strawberries for a picnic, or sit on the dock, watching the sun set over distant mountain peaks.

From the moment we stepped off the ferry, to the moment 3 days and two nights later, we had an absolutely fantastic time at the Blue Heron. Deb is just the most wonderful host. She was there to meet us with a huge smile, and then took us on a tour of Gustavus, showing us all the landmarks and places to go. She knows everyone and is passionate about her small community. It is the kind of place where everyone waves to everyone else! The cabins we stayed in (2 couples) were beautifully appointed, very private, so comfortable and very clean. We slept like logs. We loved sitting on the verandah looking at the wildflower meadow and watching out for moose. Breakfasts were amazing, the best on our whole Alaska trip of three weeks. Varied, superb, loads of choice, all served with a smile. Deb has so much information about what to do. She saved us when our trip to Glacier Bay was cancelled at the last minute due to a boat breakdown. She managed to get us on to the Taz whale watching trip which was superb (separate review). Many others who were staying in other places could not get on it. Gustavus is a tiny, lovely place. Deb has free bikes so we took advantage of these and cycled about. We also hired a car which Deb arranged, that was very useful. There is one coffee shop, a few restaurants and that is it. We saw a moose and her calf in the road. The petrol station has old hand pumps. It is a total hideaway and so wonderful. All made even better by the lovely Deb and Pete. Thanks to you both. We would highly recommend coming to stay here!

We had selected Gustavus as the location for an upcoming kayak trip. You should look no further then Aimee's guest house. It sits on a beautiful meadow and is walking distance ( and riding distance as she provides bicycles) to the quaint village. The units are self contained with a full service kitchen, comfortable sitting room and cozy bedroom. What separates this B&B from many is the owner Aimee. She is caring, selfless and there when you need her. Our flight to Juneau was postponed. Without a moments hesitation, She came back to the airport, picked us up and we were able to spend an additional evening. That is what true hospitality is all about. Highly recommend guests to visit this B&B

Luxurious modern rooms in remote Alaska! Each room has a private full bathroom, 2 beds, a flat screen television with satellite channels, and a mini fridge. Room windows are adorned with blinds and curtains to darken the room for sleeping at night. All rooms have a beautiful view facing the Fairweather Mountains. The Main Cabin, built of logs from the local Glacier Bay National Park, has a cozy sitting area with satellite t.v., cards and games. The dinning area is also in the main cabin, where our cook will serve breakfast and dinner if lodge guest choose to dine here. The Lodge is the closest lodging to the dock and a short drive from the local airport. Staff provides guest with transportation to and from dock and airport.
The hospitality and fishing quality were off the charts! Unspoiled nature and amazing seascapes everywhere, Majestic eagles everywhere you look. This was a couples trip but make no mistake we came to fish and Capt. Rob did not disappoint putting us on the fish for 3 days straight. Next time we will carve out a day to take a scenic cruise into glacier bay national park and would suggest same for couples planning this trip.

I stayed at the lodge for two nights. The owners are the nicest people. There is a sweet horse that just stays by the lodge with out fences and will follow you if you go for a river walk. A moose wandered by as we ate dinner a delicious dinner and chatted with other guests. Breakfast is very hardy. The two different I stayed in were spotless and very comfortable. We age going back next summer and are looking forward to our stay again at this wonderful lodge.
