Tradition collides with pop culture in Tokyo, where you can reverently wander ancient temples before rocking out at a karaoke bar. Wake up before the sun to catch the lively fish auction at the Tsukiji Market, then refresh with a walk beneath the cherry blossom trees that line the Sumida River. Spend some time in the beautiful East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, then brush up on your Japanese history at the Edo-Tokyo Museum. Don’t forget to eat as much sushi, udon noodles, and wagashi (Japanese sweets) as your belly can handle.

One of Japan's most beloved zoos, Ueno Zoo includes many unusual animals, such as Hokkaido brown beans, Japanese macaques, and wild cormorants.
Let me start by advising that as a family we have been to many zoos around the world and we are zoo friend members at our local zoo in Perth. Ueno zoo was fantastic, very well run and you could see that the animals were being well looked after which is always a consideration. The panda , polar bear , guerrilla and well manicured gardens and shrines combined with some good places to eat were a winning combination overall. Very easy to get there by public transport either metro or JR.

Lovely place to spend 2-3 hours. The entrance to the building itself is such a novelty and should be a very nice photo opportunity on a sunny day. Like most other visitors who reviewed this attraction, we found the huge tuna mesmerising. But we also loved the simulated coast line with a wave generator. It was nice to see rare local specimens like the goblin fish and those that live in deeper waters.

Great value so much to see and don’t miss the dolphin show both during the day and at night. Don’t forget to get you hand stamped so you can come and go all day.

Visited here on a rainy day and glad we did. Really enjoyed the dolphin and sea lion shows. And the shark tank was cool Didn’t cost much to enter either. We also visited the restaurant after which was also really good. It’s only a small aquarium but so much better than we have in the UK It’s all wheelchair accessible to and you can even borrow a chair there if you wish. Would visit again

My cousin took us to Sumida Aquarium last week. It was awesome. For a small aquarium, it had as much versatility as some much larger aquariums I've been to around the world. There were goldfish from around the world, penguins and varieties and stages of jellyfish as well as many other unique aquatic life.
