We are a family farm located 15 minutes away from the middle of the world in Quito , Ecuador. We are glad to receive families and children in our traditional tour, that will give you the opportunity to keep in touch with all the animals in a fun and natural environment.

This is a "zoo" like no other. I am not a fan of most zoos. This one is different. Excellent environments for rescued animals, huge natural enclosures and animals that genuinely looked content. The large animals were rescued from terrible conditions and rehabilitated, but cannot be released back into the wild. This park is the next best thing for them. It is a bit unusual, you follow a lengthy walking path around to each exhibit, it feels a bit like a hike with animal encounters. There is a picnic area midway through with bathrooms and drinkable water. It took our group about 3 hours to go through the whole thing. Information is written in Spanish and English. A couple things to consider: The terrain is rugged an uneven, and this is a rigorous walk. Wearing hiking or running shoes. Not suitable for people with mobility issues, and might be a bit much for younger children. You could not get a stroller through this. There's a good bit of climbing. It is located outside of the city, about a $4-$7 cab ride from parts of the city. The fare is a bit more on the way back because driver's have to go up to the next exit to turn back. The last stretch to the park is dirt, very twisty, and bumpy. If you are driving on that part, take your time and be careful. If you are in a taxi, don't be freaked out when the driver turns off the highway onto a dirt road. The zoo will call a cab for you when finished. The animals were amazing and very curious, many come right up to the edge of the enclosure. You will be closer to these animals than in any zoo you've been to before. I clicked yes that it has free parking because there is parking there, but I believe it costs $2.

The beautiful place in the forest.Tena is a very beautiful city, because it has many forests, and the people are very friendly. The tours that occur in the city for tourists are very complete. You can observe wild animals, also the landscapes in Tena are beautiful, the rivers are warm and clear. Last year my family and I visited this city and fell in love with the kindness of the people and the beautiful landscapes. If you visit Ecuador, I recommend you visit the city of Tena, if you want to relax and practice different types of sports in nature, this is the city you need.

A little path takes you past enclosures of adult tortoises (50-120yrs) - the breeding groups which are helping to repopulate Isabela island. They all hang out quite close to the path, so you can see them relatively close up, and if you visit on Monday, Wednesday or Friday mornings (feeding days), you can see them munching away on giant ‘Elephant Ear’ leaves! It’s great to see the conservation efforts up close for this endangered and critically endangered species, and a quick chat to the park rangers gave us the information we needed (the signage could do with improvement!) There are 2 species at the centre; some of them were rescued when a volcano erupted, others rescued from farms where humans tied them up by their back legs as ‘pets’ - their legs subsequently got gangrene and sadly had to be cut off. The centre does a good job of providing a safe and healthy living environment for these gentle giants while they get the population back up to where it needs to be. We also saw the juveniles 3–5 years in the middle, which are getting ready for release in the wild. Unfortunately you can’t see the babies up close due to security measures (you can see these better in the Darwin Centre in Santa Cruz). The museum area is a little tired, though I hear they have plans to renovate. Also loved the walkway to get here, past flamingoes and marine iguanas swimming in the wetlands. A great (and free) way to spend a few hours on Isabela.

I spent a week there with my family helping out as volunteers It was amazing: unique environment in a superb amazonian forest with a river flowing through, great and diversified activities to help out the fantastic animals that are being rescued there The hosts are truly passionate about their cause and very warm and welcoming Other visitors also share the same passion Easy to go from / to the city A must-see/go

A change for something different. The walk was great and amazing story of a family who used to take shelter in the Pirate Cave. The views of the island from the top was great too.
