La tollara: an idea, a project, a passion. A young winery, on the piacenza val d’arda hills, in an environment of strong food and wine tradition. Pursuing excellence, emphasising the relationship between wine and territory, protecting the local grape variety, detaching us from sameness. Rigorous selection of grapes coming exclusively from our own vineyards, yielding very little per acre, respecting the land, hand picking the grapes at the right level of ripening. Wine making and advanced oenological techniques, highly qualified cooperators. Passion, dedication, consistency, sacrifice and no compromise. Entrepreneurship, application and continuous research. All this for a wine to grow, and for us to grow with it.

In 1998 we started the rehabilitation of the ancient medieval “borgo” from the XV century, and added a modern vinification cellar equipped with the best modern technology. Wines ageing happens in barrels located in the XVII century cellar. Torre Fornello vineyard have been cultivated since 1600. Only grapes harvested in our own vineyards are processed. The vinery covers 60 hectares of vineyard where mainly local grape varieties are cultivated: Barbera, Croatina (Bonarda), Malvasia Candiae Aromatica, Ortrugo and some other international grape varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Nero, Pinot Gris. Torre Fornello specializes in steel and sparkling wines (frizzante and spumante), autochthonous white and red, and has devoted 13 out of 60 hectares to the production of organic grapes. Every year 200.000 bottles of D.O.C. wine are produced; the totality of them is addressed to high quality national and international restaurants and wine shops.
