Virginia can make American history come alive. Visit Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, tour Civil War battlefields, explore the living history museum at Williamsburg… the possibilities are endless (if the kids object, break up the historical sightseeing with a visit to Busch Gardens). Arlington, site of Arlington National Cemetery, is just across the Potomac River from all the major sites in D.C. In addition to beaches and historical attractions, Virginia has plenty to offer outdoor enthusiasts. Active families will love the Blue Ridge Highlands, where hiking, canoeing and tubing are just a few of the activities offered. Couples might enjoy a romantic mountain cabin in Virginia after a day of hiking in Shenandoah National Park.

The Virginia Beach Winery is a family run business that grew out of a passion for making wine at home. The wine is made the same way we’ve always done it. Small batches cared for by our family. We believe wine is at the center of celebrating, and we love creating the flavors of our events. Ask us to take you through a free tasting to find your own favorites! Free wine tasting every weekend!
My wife, daughter and I went there on a recent trip to the Sandbridge area for vacation. My wife, who normally does not like sweet wines, really liked the Moscato and the Beach Blackberry. We wound up buying four bottles to take home. Well worth your time.

Located in the Scott’s Addition Historic District, we are close to numerous restaurants and breweries with ample street parking. The outdoor patio and upstairs cider garden are perfect for enjoying a flight, glass, or bottle of our fine, natural cider, made on our farm in Maidens, Virginia.

Michie Tavern Located near Thomas Jefferson's Monticello in Charlottesville Virginia. This historic site serves a Southern buffet lunch daily 11:30-3:00. There are two on-site unique retail shops open 11:00 am-4:00 pm. Michie Tavern is also a private dinner venue.
It’s easy to see why this historic tavern has survived and thrived for over 200 years! The Southern country food is dynamite and it’s all you can eat of sumptuous fried chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, stewed tomatoes, green beans, black-eyed peas and the desserts are excellent, too! I went off the Keto diet for a meal just to take advantage. The servers are dressed in period attire and are so friendly you feel right at home. It’s pronounced “Mickey,” by the way. There was a small line, but the food and service far outweighed the 15 minute wait! Next time I go to Monticello this will be my lunch stop! The peach cobbler topped with vanilla ice cream is “killer.” Go get some without ‘passing “go” and collecting $200!’

A boutique winery nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. We are located in the heart of the Monticello Wine Trail and just minutes from UVA/downtown.
Wisdom Oak Winery and owner Laura truly blew me away. I called a few months in advance to see if we could use their space for a bridal shower and she said yes, that she would allow it for free as long as we bought wine. She was SO easy to communicate with during the months leading up to the event and even kept in touch re: the weather the week beforehand and offering to move the event inside or move it to the next day if the weather didn’t cooperate. That was already a huge blessing. Thankfully the weather ended up being perfect. What I wasn’t expecting was 1) The grounds to be so beautiful that I almost cried when I pulled up on the dirt road. The road to get there takes you through canopy of trees and when you’re finally there you truly feel like you reached a slice of heaven! 2) The wines were some of the best I’ve had, and 3) Laura was truly an angel. She went above and beyond to help me make this night one to remember, making multiple trips back and forth to bring me water and supplies I forgot, and even offering to help me decorate and blow up balloons. I was astounded at her hospitality. Thanks to her, it was a night we will always remember. I can’t wait to go back with my husband and dogs next time we are in the area! Thank you, Laura!!! You are a special human being and your winery is heaven on Earth.

Don’t miss this tap house and winery! Enjoy the winding roads with lots of pasture land as you travel to get there. drive up a knoll where the structure of the rustic tap house is stark against the blue sky and blue ridge mtns! AMAZING! The beer and wine selection was very good. The food selection was limited but everything was scrumptious! The wait staff couldn’t have been friendlier and service was excellent! The CoVid Protocol was spot-on. Comfortable - large expansive lawn! Masks were worn A delightful place to visit and spend a few hours. THANKS!
