With hundreds of man-made lakes, state parks, casinos, museums and nightlife and dining opportunities in revitalized downtown areas in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, there is a lot to see and do in the Sooner State. The state is dotted with phenomenal lakes where swimming, boating and bass fishing are the most desired activities. Some of the state’s most popular lakes include Broken Bow Lake located near the Quachita Mountains; Grand Lake in the northeastern corner of the state at the foothills of the Ozark Mountains and Lake Murray in the hills in the southern part of the state.
While the state is known for its many outdoor activities like great fishing, golf, hiking, canoeing and boating, make sure you don’t overlook its fantastic museums. Heading the list are Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa, featuring the world’s largest collection of art and artifacts from the American West; the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, which tells the story of the American Cowboy; and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, which has a permanent collection of American and European art. A venerable family favorite activity is Frontier City Amusement Park in Oklahoma City, which has dozens of rides and shows.

Very well taken care of spot with lots of areas to camp by the lake or just have a picnic. Very serene and clean when we visited on a Saturday. We'd go back and camp there!

Old-time fun and contemporary thrills combine at Frontier City - a Wild West amusement park in the heart of Oklahoma City. Since opening its gate for the very first time, Frontier City has become an Oklahoma staple, boasting rides and entertainment for guests of all ages. Frontier City opened alongside Route 66 (now Interstate 35) in 1958 as a Western town replica featuring a Marshall's office, saloon, bank, post office, fire department, hotel, and numerous storefronts – many of which can still be seen today! Attractions have grown from a haunted farm, mine train, staged robberies, jails, and gunfight shows to roller coasters, thrill rides, kiddie attractions, water features, holiday events, and premier entertainment facilities featuring world-class shows and concerts – all included with park admission!
I had a great time. THe park is woned and operate by The Six Flags company. POrices are about half of what they are at a Big Six Flags theme park. In my opinion, if you have to wrroy abouthow much is spent on what then you shouldn't be out here. It's normal 2019/20 amusemant park prioces for everything.
