This tour is a unique experience which provides visitors with a true cultural understanding. Our philosophy was born from our local Monteverde family who wanted to give clients an exclusive excursion different than conventional tours. We aim to provide our clients with a extraordinary experience by fully immersing them in this vibrant culture. This tour begins with a walk to a hidden Strangler Fig Tree, where there is an option to climb inside of it. Here, we have the chance to meet Capuchin White Face monkeys and Howler monkeys, who are both frequent visitors to the area. After spending time at the tree, we will go towards the upper part of the mountains, passing the original central town of Monteverde. This is where the Quakers settled in the 1950s and founded the cheese factory as well as the Quaker school. We will then catch a ride to an organic coffee farm in the bordering town of San Luis.

Highly recommend! This was one of the best parts of our trip. The views were stunning. The guides were friendly. We enjoyed being able to go at full gallop at times. It made it more exciting than the Extreme Zipline parks we had done earlier in the day. We were treated to a bonus sugar cane tour with a hands on experience at the end.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (Reserva Biologica del Bosque Nuboso de Monteverde) is where some of the best-kept cloud forest in all of Costa Rica can be found. It is a cloud forest, not a rain forest, due to its elevation of 4,724 ft (1,440 m) above sea level. Some of the best bird-watching can be done inside and outside the reserve. Tony met us at our hotel for a private tour of Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve. We learned about the national parks vs preserves, beehives in root systems, found a tarantula den, identified hummingbirds, other birds, and waited patiently for the (endangered) Resplendent Quetzal. We’d missed them in our previous tour, unfortunately. This time, with Tony’s knowledge of the area and the birds’ habits, as well as some luck (can’t control wild birds!) we watched as the female returned to the nest to swap out incubating the egg. We watched and listened to their communication and flights. Tony had a great scope and took lots of photos/videos through it for us. We were even lucky enough to spot a tayra run across our path! The hike was only mildly strenuous at one point, trying to get to a different tree they had been trying to build a new nest in. We asked a lot of questions, and Tony could answer them all. Thanks!!

The Monteverde Coffee, Chocolate and Sugar Cane Tour offers a different perspective to witness the Monteverde Cloud Forest and it's countryside, where you can appreciate the beauty and tranquility of rural Costa Rican life, a world away from the tourist crowds and traffic. Visitors are given the rare privilege of exploring this beautiful private farm on a guided walk, from where you will see the amazing process of 3 very important products worldwide, as well as enjoy coffee, cocoa and sugar cane plantations. Our guides will explain you all the processes of these 3 products and you will also taste each one of them. One of our main features is the infrastructure, where all of the trails are made of cement, which will allow the tour on sunny or rainy days. Families with children who need to take their stroller or people with some physical limitation will not have trouble walking with a walker, crutches or wheelchair. Private tours can be arranged as well as group tours with prior notice.

My absolute favorite tour adventure! Faro Travel made it extremely easy to book (I booked directly through Whatsapp) and pay. Both tours I did were through Faro Travel and Whatsapp (I also booked a night walk tour). I was picked up and taken directly to El Tigre Waterfalls where I started the hike. Due to covid, the tours are not guided but I was okay with that. The location, while you could probably view animal life and benefit from hearing the natural history with an expert guide, was absolutely stunning all on its own! It's an 8km hike where you pass by multiple waterfalls, both large and small. There's plenty of places to swim or get in the water. It is mountain water so it is freezing but refreshing! You cross over the river many times and it's pretty fun and safe despite what the bridge may appear like. The trail is well-maintained. It was rainy when I went and even through the mud, it was still safe. I think families with kids could do this trail pretty easily. There is only a couple uphill climbs but they're not hard. I opted for the horseback ride back up after the hike, and was super thankful for it! It was steep. I can't imagine walking back up. I think there's a 4x4 option if horses aren't your thing. They were calm and knew the way up, so even beginners should feel safe. I ended with lunch at reception and it was delicious after the few hours hiking. Freddy was early picking me up and it was a quick ride back to my hotel. Overall, an amazing day and tour!
