September 7, 2021 Chanda Heide

Three miles of twisty mountain roads up from Amalfi, the gorgeous resort of Ravello has been attracting celebrities for centuries, including Richard Wagner, Greta Garbo, Gore Vidal and D.H. Lawrence, who wrote Lady Chatterley’s Lover here. Ravello’s Duomo (Cathedral) and Villa Cimbrone (both 11th century) and Villa Rufolo (13th century) are all magnificent sights. The annual summer Ravello Festival began as a salute to Wagner’s music, but now showcases a wide range of music and arts.

The was interesting and very well explained by our guide but a little superficial due to time constraints as we were late due to heavy traffic. Ravello is well worth the visit but the drive in and out can be a little unnerving for some. The steep and winding cliff side roads can make you feel a little insecure.

Andrea has been an amazing guide for our visit to Pompeii. We had tickets for 10am and the tour was scheduled to start at 11am. Andrea went out of his way to accommodate us by arranging with the other members of the group to also be there for 10am and check which parking spot and entry would work with our tickets. I appreciated his deep knowledge and relaxed, engaging style. He brought Pompeii to life. It felt more like visiting Pompeii with a good friend who is an expert. Fantastic experience. Thank you!

My husband, teenaged daughter, and I took the shared day trip to Carpi from Sorrento. The price was very reasonable and the other passengers were extermely nice. We were pickuped in a old van with no air conditioning and windows that wouldn't roll down. We stopped to pickup others, but fortunately the drive was only a little ways until we reached the port. There was some confusion about payment but off we went. After that biref negative experience, the rest of the day was amazing. Our captain and crew were very accomodating and friendly. We felt safe on our way to Capri. We stopped to snorkel after circling the island. We had fun even though the Blue Grotto was closed due to high tide. Then we had the day to spend on Capri to explore. So much to see and do, but we had just enough time until it was time to meet back at the boat for our return trip. Definitely take this day trip to Capri!
