A private "one bubble tour" with a seasoned guide is the best way to make the most of your time in Monteverde. It provides flexibility of timing, duration, and trail choice. This option is great for anyone who would like a more personal touch than a standard group tour. Also great for families with children! We offer a flat rate for your private guide, meaning it will be the same price for your one-social-bubble group of 1-8 people. A great value!

We took a half day tour with our guide Marcos of the main Monteverde park. We appreciated the flexibility in choosing which park we wanted to visit. Marcos was an excellent guide (great English): he was knowledgeable about a variety of topics, ranging from Costa Rican history, rainforest fauna and local wildlife. As a bonus, we managed to spot the elusive Quetzal bird!

Selvatura Park has a zip line tour commonly called Canopy Tour. Our zip line tour is the only one that is built 100% inside the cloud forest! There are many bridge systems in the world, few of them are suspension bridge systems, let alone those located within an authentic cloud forest. The suspension bridges of Selvatura Park offer the best way to safely admire the canopy of the cloud forest. Selvatura Park offers one of the largest butterfly gardens in the Americas, with an area of 92 meters long by 30 meters wide by 15 meters high, it is a huge dome covered by a special photo-thermal Saran which helps Control the temperature inside the garden.

We visited Monteverde and decided to take a guided tour of Curi-Cancha and then visit the Monteverde reserve on our own. Good decision! Herbert was an exceptional guide with an broad and deep knowledge of birds, mammals, plants and even the history and future of the area. I attempted Spanish but his English was too good to make my efforts worthwhile. We learned a ton and spotted multiple birds including bell birds, toucans, and several quetzales (male and female). Amazing. There is a separate area for hummingbirds where Herbert gave us good tips for filming them in flight. He was also really skilled at capturing great photos through our iPhone cameras via the scope that he brought along. After the approx 2.5 hours of walking through the beautiful park like reserve, we stopped with Herbert at the local crafts co-op, coffee house and dairy where we had ice cream and bought fresh cheeses. This was unplanned but Herbert graciously waited while we shopped a bit and enjoyed coffee tasting. High recommend this adventure.

Had an awesome time with Andres in both our day and night tours. We saw a quetzal within 5 minutes of arriving at Selvatura preserve, and the tour only got better from there. The night tour was a fun jaunt as well, and by the end of it I gained a huge appreciation for the biodiversity of the cloud forest. Highly recommend.

Highly recommend! This was one of the best parts of our trip. The views were stunning. The guides were friendly. We enjoyed being able to go at full gallop at times. It made it more exciting than the Extreme Zipline parks we had done earlier in the day. We were treated to a bonus sugar cane tour with a hands on experience at the end.

The Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (Reserva Biologica del Bosque Nuboso de Monteverde) is where some of the best-kept cloud forest in all of Costa Rica can be found. It is a cloud forest, not a rain forest, due to its elevation of 4,724 ft (1,440 m) above sea level. Some of the best bird-watching can be done inside and outside the reserve. Founded in 1972, the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve is among the most famous reserves in the world for its biodiversity, conservation, contributions, and scientific researches. This 3,500 hectare of land holds 2.5% of the world’s biodiversity, and it is one of the most important private reserves in Costa Rica. Monteverde, one of the main destinations for bird lovers in the country. Almost 50% of all birds in the country had been reported here. A total of 450 species of which more than 300 reproduce in the area and the rest are accidental, migrants passing through or non-breeding visitors. Due to the good number of birds in this paradise, in addition to its very attractive and beautiful colors, it will be a great idea something characteristic of tropical forests, take a tour with a specialized guide to have the opportunity to enjoy as much as possible they. The bird watching tour is for those who love to see these amazing jewels moving in the air or stand still on a hanger, identify them and take pictures

Jean Carlos was the best tour guide we could have asked for he was very informative and had an answer to all of our questions about Monteverde and the Cloud Forest and knew the name of every animal we encountered. He knew the trails like the back of his hand... in the dark! He helped me take the most amazing photos on my iPhone and gave us great recommendations for places to go! He also seems to genuinely care about the Cloud Forrest and your enjoyment experiencing it all. After our tour we couldn’t stop reminding each other of how great he is and our tour was we actually made a toast to him at dinner a few nights later. A plus was with Jean Carlos it was just the 4 of us not a big group like we saw with other tour guides. Thank you again Jean Carlos for making our trip so special! Pura Vida!

Tony met us at our hotel for a private tour of Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve. We learned about the national parks vs preserves, beehives in root systems, found a tarantula den, identified hummingbirds, other birds, and waited patiently for the (endangered) Resplendent Quetzal. We’d missed them in our previous tour, unfortunately. This time, with Tony’s knowledge of the area and the birds’ habits, as well as some luck (can’t control wild birds!) we watched as the female returned to the nest to swap out incubating the egg. We watched and listened to their communication and flights. Tony had a great scope and took lots of photos/videos through it for us. We were even lucky enough to spot a tayra run across our path! The hike was only mildly strenuous at one point, trying to get to a different tree they had been trying to build a new nest in. We asked a lot of questions, and Tony could answer them all. Thanks!!
