The charming Vietnamese capital has aged well, preserving the Old Quarter, monuments and colonial architecture, while making room for modern developments alongside. Hanoi may have shrugged off several former names, including Thang Long, or "ascending dragon," but it hasn't forgotten its past, as sites such as Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum and Hoa Lo Prison attest. Lakes, parks, shady boulevards and more than 600 temples and pagodas add to the appeal of this city, which is easily explored by taxi.

Taking this tour is a fun way to experience the sights, smells and tastes of Hanoi. And definitely, the best way to see and learn about the real Hanoi not just the run-off-the-mill tourist sites. We would journey you to so many parts of Hanoi that you would not otherwise see and even imagine about, from the maze of zigzagging backstreets, hectic traffic, old French boulevards to the off-roads along the Red river as well as t asting the most delicious dishes of the delicious dishes that Hanoi offers you. My girlfriend and I had a great tour with Tommy last week when we visited Hanoi. Tommy was such a friendly, professional and knowledgeable tour guide. Despite the cold weather, it was super awesome being able to drive around the streets of Hanoi in an original soviet era Jeep and get to experience the culture, historical sites and food of Hanoi. I would definitely recommend booking a tour with Hanoi Backstreet Tours. P. S. The egg coffee you get to try is absolutely delicious!!!

Discovering Hanoi’s Old Quarter street foods can be a leap of faith without a guide to steer you to the must-eats and prevent you getting lost. With this small-group tour, you’ll visit tried-and-trusted food spots to sample classics, such as steamed pancakes, noodle soup, and more, all with a guide to describe each dish and help you navigate. Definitely our favorite tour in Hanoi! It's a must! Rosie was our tour guide and she was beyond amazing. She made us feel super comfortable from beginning to end. She exceeded our expectations by not only letting us try different foods and showing us how to properly eat dishes but explaining alot about the Vietnamese culture. We actually wish we had done this tour when we first got to Hanoi because it answered a lot of our questions that we had. We basically learned more from Rosie than doing research before we came to Hanoi. If you have the chance to take a private walking food tour while in Hanoi, please do it. Request Rosie because you won't regret it.
