The 10 Best Walking Tours in Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District

July 17, 2021 Esmeralda Fenner

The birthplace of the tango is, like the dance itself, captivating, seductive and bustling with excited energy. Atmospheric old neighborhoods are rife with romantic restaurants and thumping nightlife, and Buenos Aires' European heritage is evident in its architecture, boulevards and parks. Cafe Tortoni, the city's oldest bar, will transport you back to 1858, and the spectacular Teatro Colon impresses just as it did in 1908. Latin America's shopping capital offers the promise of premium retail therapy along its grand, wide boulevards.

I contacted Leo for a full-day private tour of Buenos Aires. Firstly his response time was excellent and he quickly confirmed his availability for me. I was in Argentina for only a few days and wanted to see as much as I could and learn as much as I could. Leo exceeded every expectation I had. His tour was EXCELLENT. His knowledge of his city, not just the main tourist spots but all the small details were astounding. As a history and art lover myself, I could not have hoped for a better day. I learnt so much and felt I truly got a real feeling of the city and its inhabitants. Not only is Leo and excellent guide (who I will rebook when I'm back, no doubt). He is a lovely person. It was very easy to feel comfortable with him and I wish him so much success because truly, you get 110% when you book a tour with Leo. Thank you!!

I highly recommend doing this tour with the e-bikes. It was a lot fun, riding them is great and since they're hybrid and pretty fast you get to cover a lot of ground. I felt very safe the whole time and they mainly use bike lanes so that was great. I also learnt a lot, the guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Don't miss out on this activity while in BA!

Thank you Juan, for an interesting tour, with a good walk around San Telmo that you know and love so well. You had a good balance of facts, history and good pointers about a hat shop, record store, Parrilla restaurant and bars. Your size of tour was perfect- not too large and that gave us time to talk together over the wonderful cold beer and treats.

Bored of traditional tours that only repeat what appears on Wikipedia? We too. We invite you to know the most famous quarter in the city through a b-side tour focused on its social history. We start in Caminito and then walk through the non-tourist streets of the neighborhood. We are going to talk about the immigrant origins of La Boca, the peculiarities of the neighborhood artistic style, the importance of football and the problems of the past and the present. We will also visit one of its famous bakeries (where you can try some local pastries) and we will finish the tour next to the Bombonera (one of the most famous stadiums in the world!)

I went to the recoleta tour with Nicolas and it was the HOTTEST and most humid day, yet he was very informative, friendly, and positive despite the heat. We all went for beers after. The only thing I would’ve liked is more of a cemetery tour with more stories if possible. Great tour company!

On this 5 to 6-hour customizable exploration, you will discover Palermo Viejo’s culinary secrets while enjoying its food, history, and vibrant art. We start with what used to be the doorway to Buenos Aires, after a short typical Porteño breakfast. The city’s parks and tree-lined boulevards were first inspired and planned from this area, and that curiously enough is home to one of the continent’s oldest monuments. You will sample Argentina’s famous steak in a non-touristy location, as well as relish the emblematic Argentine sandwich along with a variety of local favorite appetizers and snacks. One of our food stops has a craft beer option, and we can also add a wine tasting, if you like, in the middle of all of that food. While walking from one place to the next we will have some time to admire local street art. This is a tour that you experience with all of your senses and you will enjoy plenty of picture taking opportunities.

Inclusions: All of the food and drink consumed during the tour are included, Snacks, Breakfast, Alcoholic Beverages, Bottled water, Coffee and/or Tea

Like everyone else who can't wait to get back to real travel, we've all looked into "virtual tours? i don't know....online cooking.....maybe it could work, i don't know" Well this is the perfect introduction into that world, and there is no better person to enter that world than with Frank. Of all our travels, Frank has been by far my wife's favorite tour guide - as he's not just a guide or in this case instructor, but a friend you a haven't seen in years. The class is over before you know it because the whole time you're just chatting with him. Now the class itself - 1. Super simple to make. Super Quick to make. You don't have to set aside tons of time to prep before or cook after. 2. Frank's set up is amazing. He is like a little cooking show with two cameras, one on him, one on the counter so you can always follow along. So there is no awkward "hang on, let me adjust my camera to show you..." and during the class checking up on how ours should be looking. Plus...it's actually a good recipe. As we've learned from Frank's asado tour and Craft Beer tour, we expect nothing but excellence from him. 3.This is the part that gets overlooked, but you have to know he has gallon jugs of this stuff all over his house, but at no point did he have that 'here we go again, making the same thing over and over' There was no cutting corners or sloppiness or blah anywhere. So with all of this said, if you're looking to enter the world of virtual cooking classes, this is *the* tour to start with. and i know if frank had a monthly cooking class get together, i know my wife would be the first one to sign up.

We really enjoyed this virtual live experience all together. And even-though we decided to "only" watch, due to the time difference (after dinner for us), we had a great time learning more about how to properly cook Empanadas. Thanks again to Camila for making it very interesting, "tasteful"and fun and giving us the chance to discover the world of Empanadas and also sharing insights about Argentina with us.
