Our trip to Marrakech and Imlil in the Atlas Mountains, planned and guided by Abdel from Original Travels, was a spectacular (!!) return to travel for a group of vaccinated expats coming from Abu Dhabi. We started out with a very smooth transfer from Casablanca to Marrakech with our wonderful (and safe!) driver, Samir, then had dinner at our gorgeous riad, Palais Sebban, a solid recommendation from Abdel. Our first morning, we took a super fun and informative cooking class at Maison Al Arabe then met up with our laid-back and kind local guide Hassan, for a loop through the Medina where we learned a lot about the culture and daily life of Marrakech and shopped for carpets, leather goods and argan oil. The following day we were driven to Imlil in the Atlas Mountains for unforgettable hiking, visits with local Berber families for lunch and tea and a night of stargazing and some of the best tajine of the trip from Khasbah du Toukbal. Then it was back to Marrakech for our last two nights. We booked hammam treatments at the Royal Mansour, one of the city's prettiest hotels, a stop at the Majorelle Gardens and YSL museum and a final loop through the souq. Phew! We are a relatively well-traveled group and I have to say this was a trip of a lifetime, thanks to Abdel. He was so responsive and helpful in planning and leading us, but also patient and sweet when it came to giving us time to relax and do our own thing. If you're looking to be a tourist, and I mean that in the very best sense of the word of experiencing and learning and feeling awe and gratitude for this big world, Original Travels is how to do it. Thank you, Abdel!
The Mount M'Goun massif, the Mecca of Morocco's trek, is home to the country's second peak in the heart of the central Atlas. At 4,068 meters above sea level, it offers a beautiful landscape bathed in light and colors, where the Berbers cultivate legendary hospitality. The ascent is a self-realization, a surpassing of its physical limits and a golden opportunity to see the beautiful Atlas landscapes.

This was a great trip arranged by the efficient and friendly Sophia at Experience Ma at short notice. Unique and enjoyable. Frederick was fantastic, knowledgable and hospitable, keen to show his home to visitors. It is worth noting that he is actually a senior jet-setting corporate Exec who does this for fun, so you’ll be lucky to get in when he is available! Book it!
The M’Goun valley is located in the central part of the High Atlas Mountains and is home to the second highest peak in Morocco, Jebel M’Goun. The M’Goun summit is a popular destination for hikers and trekkers who would like to test their skills before tackling bigger adventures. Even if you have lots of experience, the M’Goun Massif has plenty for you to enjoy as an Atlas Mountains tour. You’ll be further out from Marrakech than if you were visiting the Toubkal region and the scenery and the landscape are simply stunning.

"Imsfrane Cathedral" is a magnificent rock that rises to 1872 m altitude. The cathedral is located in the Atlas, in the middle of beautiful Aleppo pine forests and sumptuous valleys. At 15 kilometers from Tillouguitte, between Ouaouizerht and Anergui, the imposing "cathedral" of rocks dominates the site of Imi n'Waregue on the edge of the assif Ahensal with its 600 meters of vertical wall

Hassan is an extremely competent guide who is not only very experienced in leading treks in the Sahara Desert and Atlas Mountains but is also dedicated to conserving the environment at all times. Catering primarily for people from German-speaking countries, his command of the language is incredibly good. At the same time, he is also very funny and jokes with both locals and visitors. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him, loved the food cooked by Ismail and dancing round the camp with the dromedary leaders.
North of the Central High Atlas, where it is most impenetrable, where no road manages to cross it, stands a multitude of peaks whose altitude is around 4000 m: thus the M'Goun (4068 m) and Ouaougoulzat (3770 m) At their feet, the Berber valleys Ait Bougmez, Ait Bowli and Imerhane isolated for a large part of the year by snow and difficult access are oases of prosperity in the middle of the austere mountains which protect them to infinity. Their inhabitants, proud craftsmen of an astonishing human landscape, built the most beautiful villages of the Atlas. In these mountains, sheltered from the heat of the plain, this hike allows you to discover a mountain people forgotten in sublime landscapes. You can climb M’Goun and descend Tassaout, a huge canyon that this river has dug at the foot of the M’Goun chain. 5 to 7 hours of walking per day / vertical drop of 1000 m maximum

When the world locked down with COVID 19, I was stuck in Morocco whilst on a cycling tour. I had to get out ASAP on a rescue flight, but I had to leave my bike behind. I had to call on someone to help. Lahcen and his team at Adrar Adventure were there to help and were able to look after my bike and keep it safe. Today, seven months later, they got my bike back to UK. I am so grateful for their kindness, generosity, friendship and help. It is good to know that there are such genuine people around at difficult times! Thanks all everything u did is much appreciated Ade
