Cumbria's valleys and fells (as the low mountains are known) are home to idyllic villages, high moorlands and picturesque lakes. Literary buffs will enjoy Wordsworth's Dove Cottage (go in March to see daffodils), and if you've got kids in tow, visit The World of Beatrix Potter. Or just enjoy a leisurely drive through beautiful scenery.

Here to help visitors and locals. Pop in for leaflets, guides and advice from our friendly advisers about the local area of Keswick and around Derwentwater, and around the Lake District National Park.
Right in the middle of town this building used to be a prison. Some very detailed books here and well worth a look in. Staff are very knowledgeable.

They were so friendly and helpful, made us feel very welcome to the town and region. We met the Major who allowed us a peep at the 11th Century Moot Hall - fans of Harry Potter will spot the reference. Worth a stay

Brockhole on Windermere offers activities to suit everyone, from toddlers to adventure seekers to those in search of an ultra-relaxing experience whilst enjoying their time in the Lake District. It's all here in one place, set against stunning mountain views on the shores of Windermere in the Lake District National Park, Cumbria. From family activities to glorious garden tours and seasonal events, there really is something for all ages. Why not explore 30 acres of beautiful historical gardens and grounds? Or picnic by the lakeshore and enjoy secret beaches with the family? If the children are feeling more adventurous they can swing or bounce through ancient woodland on Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets. Down by the lakeshore, you can hire kayaks and rowing boats, enjoy or catch the cruise boat across the lake, depending on the season. There's also archery, bike hire and mini golf on offer during the season. Don't forget to finish your day by taking in the stunning lake views offering stunning views towards the distant Langdale Pikes at the terrace café, while enjoying local ales and dishes. There's also a well-stocked gift shop and ever changing exhibition space to enjoy indoors.
Came here today on a wet and wild day but that didn't dampen our enthusiasm there is something for everyone here from den building woodland walks boat rides and archery which I would highly recommend the girl running it must of had the patience of a saint due to my cack handedness it cost £10 for a 45 minute session but is great fun once you get the hang of it there are also plenty of adventure playgrounds to burn off those cakes from the cafe also a zip wire and a tree top trek for the more adventurous also plenty of picnic areas as the cafe's are a little pricey
