Stay here for 2 nights. Room is clean but facilities seems little bit old. Breakfast is limited but the view from restaurant is really beautiful. Staffs are really helpful. Room service is good. Price for foods is acceptable. Foods are good.

We traveled to the Sai Yok area of Kanchanaburi Province over the peak New Year holiday season and had the chance to stay at 3 different hotels (Home Phutoey River Kwai Hotspring Resort, Kwai Tara Riverside Villas, and Boutique Raft Resort). Kwai Tara had decent villas, but it was overpriced for what we got compared to other hotels in the area. We stayed in a Riverside Villa for 5,100 baht/night. As the name suggests, this is less of a hotel/resort and more of villa rental catering to rich Thai families with their own private vehicles. POSITIVES + The Villas had a pretty good view of a narrow stretch of the river, with minimal boat traffic. The patio/deck area is right on top of the flowing river with lots of space for a table with chairs and two more deck chairs. The villas are very stable. + FREE bamboo raft trip every afternoon helps to somewhat make up for the high price. A boat pulls you up river in bamboo rafts and then you float gently downstream back to the hotel, either on the raft or alongside it in lifejackets. A lot of fun. + Meals, which are pretty good and reasonably priced, can be brought down to the room for a nice meal on the river (however, kitchen closes at 7:30pm). + Good WiFi. NEGATIVES - The main issue is that it's just too expensive for what you get. There are several hotel options in the area for less money that provide a similar experience on the river. - The villas are designed in an industrial concrete aesthetic. The room is covered in black drapes that makes it hard to get a full view outside. It's a darker mood than the rustic, jungle vibe of other hotels. The furnishings and materials feel a bit cheap for this price point, particularly in the bathroom. The drawers wouldn't stay closed in one room (#204), and water flow was weak in another (#207). - Very poor breakfast selection and inefficient service. For this price, the breakfast should have been much better. There are a few Thai dishes, with some eggs, chicken sausage, and white bread. There is no egg station, they only serve the kind of circular eggs found in McDonald's breakfast sandwiches, and they come out from the kitchen four at a time. There is one basic toaster, rather than the usual conveyer style found in most hotels, so it's two slices at a time for all the guests. Very very slow. No fresh coffee, only the instant powder kind. All in all, shockingly bad for this price. - Kitchen closes very early at 7:30pm and there is nowhere else to eat nearby. Short window for breakfast (8-10am) - we had to skip breakfast the first day because they open late and we had early activities planned. - No onsite amenities, such as a pool or massage (other than the daily bamboo raft trip). It's basically a villa rental. - Location on the "other" (i.e. west) side of the river makes it slightly harder to get to nearby attractions. The villa itself is fine, but I would compare prices for similar hotels in the area. At this price, I would not come back and can not recommend. Better suited for large families with their own transportation. The other hotels we stayed at on our trip provided much better value. Would give 3.5 stars.

The overal feel of this property is downrun and poor service. The reception is dirty and messy and the general impression is a property on the way down with a "don't care" attitude. Stayed 4 days (prebooked) with my wife and three children. The Airconditioning in our room did not work and it was an unpleasant confrontation with the manager to change rooms. On our second night, we woke up to another confrontation, when some new arrivals moved in close by, and their aiconditioning did not work either. The rooms lack many basic things, that you would expect from a "Resort" such as bedside tables/lights, wardrobe, hairdryer, information folder, telephone/alarm clock and the Satellite TV has over 400 channels, all in Thai. One thing we noticed in this age of "devices" and the need to charge them every day, was the location of power points. They are all at chest level and away from any surface to place your device, so bring a long cord.

The FloatHouse River Kwai is a magnificent floating resort upon a finest part of the world's historical river,River Kwai. All floating villas are made of teak wood & bamboo featured with wooden furniture and broad range of services and facilities. Our distinctive design is to harmonize with gorgeous nature surroundings making the resort "design by nature".
Arrive at the dock and board a long tail boat for the 10 minute trip up-river to the Float House. You may spot a bright blue kingfisher on the bank or a swimming monitor lizard. Arrive at this series of rafts alongside the fast-moving river and be taken to your room. It's simple and most notably has a large outdoor deck on the river. Take a jump in the river and let the swift current carry you downstream (lifejacket required). Come dinner time there is a buffet and a la carte menu. The buffet is thai, the a la carte menu has thai food and some surprisingly good pizza (their peperoni is delicious). This offers good access to hellfire gorge (worth a visit), nearby biking and kayaking, and a nearby national park with waterfalls (reasonably pretty but somewhat crowded). This is an idea hotel for 1-2 nights for travelers seeking a unique experience. This simple yet comfortable hotel trades some luxury for its unique natural environment.

A Hidden Gem of Kanchanaburi, we are a Bed&Breakfast which has 10 villas, each villa facing magnificent views of Lake Srinakarin. Surrounded by nature, so you can relax and enjoy your stay in a peaceful environment.
Absolutely stunning place. Quiet and peaceful with an amazing view over the lake. We stayed two nights and it felt perfectly right. Definitely for couples, not so much for kids as the only access to the lake is a floating boat house where you can get kayaks, SUPs for free.

We stayed one night to participate in the River Kwai International half marathon the next morning. Positive: Nice and friendly staff, the room was big and clean. The whole place looked like someone really cared about the look. Air condition was working. We liked the restaurant. Negative: The bathroom was a bit basic, the shower worked but needed some love. The road to the hotel isn't asphalted and we had to avoid some potholes. The breakfast is rather basic for an european taste. There was not fresh coffee (just instant coffee). Conclusion: Would stay there again, the place was full of half-marathon runners. We can also recommend the restaurant for dinner. Reasonable prices and a lovely service.
