The 10 best Villas in Canary Islands, Spain

April 26, 2023 Jana Sager

The sun-drenched Canary Islands lie close to North Africa and have an exotic flavor of their own. Hundreds of volcanoes, rolling sand dunes, rich forests and rugged cliffs dapple these seven Atlantic gems. Catch a ferry to Lanzarote. Ride a camel through volcanic Timanfaya National Park. Take on Tenerife, home of Mount Teide, Spain's tallest peak. Romp Grand Canary's beaches or hike La Gomera's Garajonay National Park. More adventures await on tiny El Hierro, verdant La Palma and peaceful Fuerteventura.

5 stars spoiled by street noise

Reviewed By Anonymous987987

Royal Garden villas offers all the luxury, service and amenities you would expext from a 5* hotel. Villa rooms are large (but a bit dated), private pool nice and warm, the underground parking is definately a major plus. Multiple reviews complain about construction and street noise, we took the risk... we had no issue with the construction works, which are temporary anyhow. But the street noise is a really there to stay. During the whole day there are cars, scooters, trucks passing by at a few meters of the terrass, although nicely shielded for privacy. It looks like a misfit to have such a nice hotel at such a noisy place. Unfortunately this will be the one and only reason for us not to return to this hotel.

Having spent lots of euros in the games room tonight....most if the machines didn't work...the guy who looks after the machines declined to give me any money back...the reception staff asked him about the machines but he declined to give a refund. Several other people were complaining about the broken machines that were still accepting the money. My advice Do not go to the games room !!! Avoid at all costs

Hidden Gem in Playa Blanca

Wow what an amazing place. I have been to Playa Blanca many times and have always stayed in the big hotels. Coloradamar Bungalows is great!!! We had a 2 bed bungalow with own hottub overlooking the pool. The pool area is immaculate with a kids, adult and jacuzzi. It's all gated for the young ones who might like to wander off for added peace of mind. We stayed in Bungalow 9 which had a triangle hottub, bungalow 10 had a larger hottub for all the family. Close to Marina Rubicon, Papagayo beaches and lots of amazing eateries, my personal favourite Alfies Kitchen! Anybody looking for a very reasonably priced holiday then dont hesitate to check out Coloradamar as I guarantee you will have an amazing time.

Great location

Reviewed By Grego1967

We have stayed at quite a few of the big hotels in Caleta and then booked this last minute as a cheap getaway, not expecting too much. However, we have been impressed with all this hotel as to offer. First of all it is in a great position, a perfect base to explore the resort, we have seen more of the resort in the last 7 days, than all previous visits. The hotel is clean, rooms and the general grounds. We stayed in a one bedroom bungalow, which has a small kitchenette, big enough for making breakfast, sandwiches, snacks etc. the bathroom is big enough with walk in shower, which was quite powerful and hot/cold as you wanted. The bedroom had double wardrobe and bedside drawers, again ample room for everything. The air conditioning unit is in the bedroom, would probably be better situated in the living area, although for me it was great, as I like a cool room to sleep in. Our daughter slept on the under sofa bed in the living room, which she said was fine, although room was a little warm at nights. There is a large patio, you get two chairs/ table and two sun loungers. The staff are all very friendly and extremely helpful, couldn’t praise them enough. You pay for using the safe, which I believe is the norm, very reasonable less than €20 for the week, unusually you leave a returnable deposit of €6 for each of the following air conditioning control, tv control, spare door key ( you only get 1). If it could improve slightly, I would say rooms need a little tlc

Fantastic stay!

Myself, my partner and 2 friends stayed in Villa 36 for 4 nights for my partners birthday beginning of March and we could not fault them. Excellent location, good sized pool and the villa itself was very spacious with everything you need and even a complimentary tray with tea, coffee, milk, biscuits and useful information etc. The villa was in a perfect location as we got the sun all day, the marina only a few minutes walk past the shopping centre and main town 15-20 walk up the coastline path. There was a hotel facing us being demolished but, we didn’t hear anything apart from the odd bang here and there. I would definitely stay here again #greatspot

We (Me & a Friend) visited on a Friday night in February for a one night stay … We booked via booking.com and was advertised as all inclusive …… definitely not all included …We paid for everything we had . (Very Deceptive website ) We arrived at around 3pm and by 5pm we were ready for something to eat …I went spoke to the lady and she said …. “We only serve food from 6pm and you can ONLY have steak” it wasn’t really what we wanted but as this was the only option we were told , I ordered 2 steaks …… The food was amazing …… but once we finished , we were left with a bill for €107.00 ….. ??? Eventually after a lot of conversations with the manager , we got a reduction …. The site was un-manned after 11pm ?! There was nowhere to get water or ask for assistance…. It’s basically like camping …. But fancy ….. !! Bottle of water was €3.50 ….. it’s trying very hard to be WAY to fancy …. Doesn’t need to be , as the location is great … and the gardens and surrounding were lovely !! Perfect if ALL you want to do , I lay by the pool in the day then go to bed at 9pm every night ?? We also only stayed one night , and had the maid banging on the door to clean our room @ 8:45am ….. even though checkout wasn’t til 11am? … Wouldn’t visit again ….

Beside the banana field

The finca has good quality rooms, all but one in a single house right beside the main road of hermitage. That means plenty of parking and not much travel at night. All of it is pretty clean but the kitchen. The showers need some refurbishment, what is not a real problem. The terasse of the rooms is the best of all: Greens, flowers and beautiful landscape everywhere. The rooms are cleaned every day, the towels changed every other day and Maria how is caring for every thing is very kind . You will enjoy, if you wish a fresh banana every day!

Nothing special

Reviewed By Laura91_13

We were here during the start of the Corona crisis (second week of march). We were welcomed by the housekeeper who doesn't speak one word of English. Difficult to communicate with. We were shown the room, but received no further explanation of the building or breakfast (times?). In the room were several things that dissapointed us: the fridge makes a hell of noise, the door to the bathroom is see through, there's a plate behind the tv that is loose, the light next to the frontdoor can not be switched off, so the room is bathing in light when you want to sleep, only one of the bedsight lamps was working, the bath/shower is super slippery and the shower head needs to be held by hand for there is no way to attach it to the wall. We stayed 5 nights but never received clean towels. There's a deadly virus and keeping yourself clean is of the utmost importance! We at least expected a change every other day. What surprised most is that after the partial lockdown of Spain and the island no one told us about the rules (not going on the street, don't shop together, keep distance). The fact that this appartment is quit and not touristic makes up for a part of this, but overall we did not have a good experience here.
