Scotland's oldest lending library sits in a tranquil rural location beside the River Earn. Founded in 1680 by David Drummond 3rd Lord Madertie, with a school, at Innerpeffray near Crieff in rural Perthshire. Today thinking people from across the world come to enjoy the peaceful surroundings, to explore the social heritage captured in its Borrower's Register, and turn the pages to be inspired by books dating from four centuries.
I loved everything about this library. What a little idyll. I felt like I connected with history in a really real and wonderful way looking at the old books and borrowing register. Wonderful, friendly guides.

The AK Bell Library in Perth is a bright, open building where you can relax, have a snack, read and learn, treat yourself or socialise. It offers a broad range of borrowing, information and learning services for all ages. You can learn about the history and culture of the region, borrow the latest thriller or romance, read the local newspaper or bring your children to our storytelling sessions.
A.K Bell Library is situated in the city of Perth. Located adjacent to York Place and Glasgow Road, with parking found in car park next to the library and surrounding area. The library is operated by the local regional council and is free for the general public to access. The library is easily accessable for those with mobility issues, guide dogs and hearing issues. The library has an foyer which leads into the main library. Accessable from the foyer is a shop and cafe also. The shop has a good variety of items to peruse and buy, from cards, to pens to gift ideas. The coffee shop is a brilliant place to visit for a quick coffee and cake or something a little more substantial. The prices are reasonable in the cafe. Staff in the coffee shop and gift shop are always so welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The library has very helpful and friendly staff too. There is a wide variety of books to chose from, fact to fiction. Computers are available to book and use also. Now I am aware that most people like to download and read books online now but there is something special about finding a good book and getting lost in the pages. I have used this library since my daughter has been little, I am an avid fan of libraries in cities and communities. We spend enough time online, a book is always a great way to unwind for a few hours. Also as I did with my daughter, a great library to access for families/carers with children to introduce children to reading and the wonders of books! Well worth a visit, reading is knowledge and knowledge opens up our minds to unlimited possibilities.

We visited this tourist information centre on a wet day in Perth. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and gave us lots of very useful information about Perth and the surrounding district. They also supplied us with relevant maps and brochures that helped us very much. They made our visit to Perth a lot better than it might have been given the horrible weather. If you visit Perth make sure that you visit this tourist information centre as it will definitely improve your holiday experience of the area!

The Rannoch Station Visitors Centre was opened by the famous botanist David Bellamy in 2005. On the station platform, next to the Tearoom, the Visitors Centre has attractively presented information about the fauna and flora of Rannoch Moor and how the railway line came to be built over 100 years ago. The West Highland railway, from Glasgow to Fort William, is often voted as one of the best in the world.
Snow on the ground, no worries, the platform has been cleared not only for rail passengers but for folks just visiting the station. The displays are very good, clear about the area both attractions and dangers, and well done to the team from Stirling Uni with their core of peat et al. The owner is kind enough to provide makings for a hot drink too, with honesty box; and a heater in the toilets. Too early in the year for the Tearoom to be open, worry not, visit!
