WildAcres Retreat

We have been coming here for five years as a couple, and I came as a solo traveler for two years before that. Spring Gathering is a chance to connect with other artists while focusing on your own project for an uninterrupted week. I’m a quilter; he’s a writer. We LOVE it here! It’s not for the luxury seeker, nor for the fussy. It’s for people who want to connect with their thoughts in the loveliest mountain surroundings imaginable.

Teresa Smith was very helpful to me when I contacted her about needing access to a printer on my vacation to Maggie Valley. She went out of her way to help me find someplace to print my departure plane boarding pass and even offered to meet me at the Chamber, on a day when it was closed, just to print my pass for me. Super service. Maggie Valley has the best people! Thanks, Teresa.

The Blowing Rock Community Library

Book Sales. Old time charm. The Community Library is located on the corner of Main Street and Park Ave., adjacent to the Town Hall. The beautiful stone structure was built in 1949. Inside, the library sports warm wood paneling, iron chandeliers, and stone fireplace. There are many reference books on local sights, history, and architecture. You will seemingly go back in time as the library still uses the multi-drawer manual card catalog (can you find the rotary phone?). Be sure to check out the whimsical children's section. The locals will tell you one of the library's best features: a continuously running BOOK SALE of gently used hardback and paperback books as well as collectible volumes. Prices start at $1. Don't miss bronze "Jessie" casually reading a book while seated on a bench on the front lawn (photo op!). Summer Hours (May-Oct): Mon-Sat 10:30am - 4:00pm Winter Hours (Nov-Apr): M W Sat 10:30am - 4:00pm

You can ask even the most unusual questions. A small gift shop is there and bathrooms. Activities for the four seasons can be discovered also. Go Enjoy

This was our meeting place to take the Ridgeline Trolley on Blue Ridge Parkway up to Linville Falls. Beautiful fall tree colors. The Burke Center has lots of brochures on area. Very informative. This is only information center. I answered no on most of questions asked below. If you take the Ridgeline Trolley tour definitely wear athletic shoes.

Smoky Mountain Visitor Center

NC visitor center on Hwy 441N coming into NC from GA. Country Store in same facilities as public restrooms.

Reviewed By 646lorit - Dawsonville, United States

This rest area is much nicer than the ones along the interstate highways. The restrooms have upscale wood and glass walls, like a mountain lodge. The visitor info center has helpful guides, lots of brochures, and a very nice gift center with some local products. I got a beautiful recycled paper birthday card for less than $4. Outside there are several picnic tables under shady trees. This is a great place to stretch the legs.
