While the US railway system is stuck in the 19th century, JR - Japan Railways has built one of the best and well-run network of high speed trains across the country. It is the most convenient and surely the fastest way to travel. Tickets are easy to buy and trains leave frequently. Trains leave on time, are clean and comfortable. Staff understand and speak English and the ticket machine switches to English also.

The largest ropeway in Kyushu with a maximun riding capacity of 101 passengers ! I will guide you through the 10 minute journey to Tsurumi Sanjo Station situated at 1,300 maters above sea level. Standing 1,375m high, Mt.Tsurumi is located at the east edge of Aso-Kuju National Park. Mt.Tsurumi is an active volcano with fumarole activity still occurring in the backside, and is the source of Beppu Hot Spring. The top of Mt.Tsurumi offers a beautiful view of the Beppu Area, Mt. Yufu, the Kuju Moutains, and the Shikoku Regions.
We went up there with our baby in a carrier. It was 0 degree Celsius so it was slightly cold. However, we walked up to the top of the mountain so it was not hot at all. It’s worth our time.

Beautiful vintage looking ferries with plenty of seating and even a ramen shop! There is a lift for people with disabilities but it is slow. Very fast and comfortable ride to the island

We took the ferry on Thur morning at 11:10. However, due to fog, it was cancelled. We had to wait for the next ferry at 1pm. We never knew that there is so much fog at the Ferry pier until we see it for ourselves. Nevertheless, it was no fault of the ferry operators as the weather here is unpredictable. Just be careful when you plan your trip and always have contingency plans. As for us, we waited for the next one at 1pm, and the fog cleared by then, and off we went...Ferry trip was enjoyable and very relaxing too. Highly recommended.

We had heard this was a good way to travel between the two countries, without the hassle of going to airports for a very short flight. This is A GREAT WAY to do the trip. Easy check-in, accessible from the port within the city of Fukuoka and takes you to Busan, with easy access to downtown. Only 3-1/2 hours, very comfortable, reasonably priced. Highly recommend this.

It might be the fastest means to cross Kanmon strait. Took us five minutes from Karato to Mojiko. The pier is in between Karato market and Kaikyokan aquarium and tickets can be purchased right next to the Family mart outside Kaikyokan.
