We got picked up from the hotel, Ashley was there earlier to wait for us. We when in the tour in a nice Nisan Kashkai. He was knowledgeable, but gave us time to enjoy the views as well. Honestly great experience with him basically waiting for us after each stop, providing an umbrella (guess he was more prepared then us) explaining the attractions...etc As a couple that generally when to group tours this was a great experience. Basically everything was taken care of. Nice attractions as well.

The Black River Gorges National Park, 67.54 km² of pure, wild, nature. The heart of Mauritius island, home of many endemic species, both animal and floral. It offers a great discovery of the nature of the island. During this hike we will discover different viewpoints from which we can contemplate different parts of the park and its surroundings. Half-way up our climb, we discover the “Mare aux Joncs Gorge” that we like to call the “Bats Valley” because of the thousands of Mauritan Fruit-Bats we can observe there. On top of our ascension, at 400m above sea level we get an amazing sight on the West-Coast, its lagoons and beautiful villages amountains. From there, we start our back back down until the black-river where we can stop to enjoy a nice swim before continuing and reach back our starting point, where we’ve met a few hours earlier.

Inclusions: All Fees and Taxes, Bottled water

Le Morne Brabant is a mountain of the south-west of Mauritius, on the peninsula of le Morne. Our team has been guiding guests from all over the planet on this majestic rock for the past twelve years. Declared World Heritage by UNESCO since July 6, 2008, the site is a sanctuary of the runaway slaves who would have committed suicide by jumping off the cliff of the mountain. Le Morne Brabant is one of the most preserved and wildest mountains of the island. It is habitat to a very large variety of endemic and narrow-endemic species, such as the rare Trochetia Boutoniana, which is our floral emblem. Some steeper parts of the ascent will require the use of our hands to progress safely towards the top, where we’ll discover the breath-taking views on the west and south-west lagoons and part of of the island !

THE TAMARIND FALLS The Tamarind Falls, also called the 7cascades, is an adventurous hike in the heart of the island. It’s a total immersion in our tropical forest, where we will discover five of seven waterfall of Tamarind one after the other. Located in the centre of Mauritius, the hike offers a great discovery of the diverse nature of Mauritius. Surrounded by lush green forests and dark volcanic rocks, we progress on single tracks and open areas offering astonishing views upon the falls and the canyons. During the walk, we have the possibility to enjoy a nice swim in the natural pool that water has carved in the rock, and appreciate a natural massage under the cascades. This hike is suitable for the whole family and lasts more or less 3 hours including the swim breaks.

At first, I was planning to hike Le Morne Brabant myself. But after reading about how technical the hike is, I decided to book with Yanature. I'm so glad I did it! The hike is definitely doable but it SO MUCH more enjoyable with an experienced guide who can coach you through the more tricky sections. Our guide Manuel (Manu) was fantastic and I learned a great deal about the Mauritian culture and lifestyle. We had a great group of tourists from different parts of the world and it was enjoyable to hike with a diverse group of interesting people. This was one of the best experiences during my time in Mauritius, Highly recommended!

We went for a full-day fishing charter with the hope of catching a blue marlin. Quite ambitious plan after trying without luck last year for 4 ful dayz at the Azores. After 2 hous of fishing a blue marlin approached the bait and we had a tremendous strike. However, the marlin just took 10-20 meters of line before it went off. We were quite thrilled but also a bit disappointed. A few hours later we were catching lots and lots of stribed tuna - and the kids were having great fun. Suddenly, the big wheel started "scratching" and something big took all the 800 m of line. At little more than an hour later, we saw the 500 lbs marlin just next to the boat. A truely amazing experince which I felt in my body for the next 3 days. Our best fishing experience ever - and we have actually been doing this all other the world for many years. Thanks to the crew, Francis and Christian, we are already planing our trip back next year. Can't wait!
