Let's enjoy together the atmosphere of this city in the middle of the Mediterranean and live an incessant flow of unforgettable experiences. It takes little time to feel at home in Cagliari. Those who have already been here always want to return, to take a stroll in the old neighbourhoods amidst flowered balconies and parks where strawberries, lavender and peaches grow. Throughout history, different peoples arrived by sea and conquered the city before defending it themselves afterwards, only to surrender once again to new arrivals. The narrow streets of the old city always open up onto wonderful terraces where we can admire views over beaches and long stretches of water where thousands of pink flamingos wait for the sun to set before gliding over rooftops to astonish those who turn their heads up. The restaurants overlook small squares and keep intact the traditions of Sardinian cuisine. Cagliari is this and more, an ideal place where culture, sounds, flavours and aromas blend together.

Corona virus changed our travel plans and we ended up visiting Sardinia for the first time. Taking a couple of days in Cagliari was a great idea as the city is steeped in history with lots of interesting facts of historical importance. Emanuel knew all these things and brought us on a tour of his city with passion and pride. He introduced us to some of the local delicacies too and gave us great hints and tips for local restaurants and places to visit. He was knowledgable, friendly and very mindful of the social distancing measures that needed to be in pace for our tour to take place safely. He gave us some great tips for on stay in Putzu Idu (along the western coast) that did not disappoint! And finally he brought us to a fantastic local shop - Sapozi De Sardegna - for a wine and cheese sampling.....we went back a few times afterwards as the food was just amazing!

Today we visited two beautiful winery with Cristina, she was great host with lots of local knowledge about food and wines. The drive out to the winery was enjoyable to see the colourful countryside. First stop was a large winery, it was wonderful to see the production. The guided tour was very interesting, they also explain how they were reducing their carbon footprint with new equipment and methods. Lots of wines to taste, plus we was served a platter of Meat, cheeses and bread. Next stop was a small winery which is owned by two of the youngest grape growers. This winery was more modern, the views from this winery were breathtaking. We were shown the production methods then entered the tasting area which looked over the vineyards. Absolutely stunning. We tasted 3 different wines and again was served a platter of food. We bought a few bottles of wine to take home from each winery but was not put under pressure to buy. This trip was a fantastic day out and very enjoyable. I would say it’s a must do trip for anyone visiting the island.

The island of Sant'Antioco is home to the ruins of the oldest urban settlement in Sardinia, the Phoenician city of Sulky. We walk in the town of Sant'Antioco itself where the ancient settlement once stood; its colourful houses line along the small port where every day the fishermen sell their catch. The looks, the smiles and every little gesture of the local people could resemble those of the Phoenicians, of a place that still hides secrets. One of them is the tradition of the byssus, the renowned golden brown marine natural filaments that are still spun and woven today to get fine embroidery. We stroll along the coast on beautiful beaches interspersed with rocky natural barriers where the waves of the turquoise sea break. And we finally reach Calasetta, a small town of white houses nestled in juniper woods and vineyards that stretch all the way to the coast in front of the Faro di Mangiabarche, a working lighthouse that still guides sailors to safety.

Inclusions: Certified tour guide and also tour driver.
