My wife Charlotte and I were staying more or less next door to Ancel when her chocolate making course was recommended to us. Out of curiosity we went along and had a really great time. Making chocolate bars and balls from the bean right through to the finished product. Starting at a cacao tree with a few interesting facts and some history we then went inside to get chocolatie. Ancel is highly informative and very skilled at her craft and also makes soaps and lotions and knows loads of medicinal uses for plants and trees. Go and see her spend some time and come away the better for having met her. You will also come away with chocolate you made yourself.

Me and my friend had a great time with this tour. You learn a lot about old customs of the BriBri people and at the same time you make chocolate yourself and get a delicious traditional lunch. Gloriana was the best guide, very informed, helpful and knowledgeable. Catato, who explained the old customs to us, gave us a great, informative but also light-hearted tour. I highly recommend this tour if you want to learn about BriBri culture.

Highly recommend a visit. They do incredible work rescuing animals throughout the region. There is an animal hospital onsite. Those that are not able to go back in the wild are on display. We saw baby sloths, beautiful birds, spider monkeys, etc. Our English speaking guide was personable, passionate about his work, & full of fun stories & facts. Entrance fee contributes to operation of facility. I recommend bug spray before going in.
