Seated on a patio with an open view of the river and the hills beyond, we watched the sky change color and darken. Local birds serenaded us as we sipped a unique Mescal pre-dinner cocktail and whet our appetites with a mild yet exceptionally flavorful salsa that 2 of the men had been asked to help prepare. So a brief cooking instruction was included. The tostadas with pork fat and farmer's cheese served with the salsa were addictive! We then drank superb Mexican wine as we enjoyed a variety of authentic Oaxacan dishes. First white wine was perfectly paired with the food, then red as the heavier dishes arrived. And the exquisite food just kept coming... Perfectly sized portions so we never got too full to enjoy it. The Chile Poblano soup was indescribably exquisite! I personally can't eat anything that is too spicy or hot. The soup, like all the dishes, was full of different flavors but all were gentle to the tongue. I loved the 2 mole dishes, one yellow and the other negro. It was terrific to taste the difference. I could go on and on about this culinary adventure! I'll contain myself and simply say that I'm so glad I went and I will be back. This dinner will be one of my best, and certainly most delicious, memories of Huatulco. Thank you Jane and staff!

Betsy arranged two custom tours for us. One tour for 4 women and the other for 7 women. Both tours were fantastic. Our first day we went to an Alebrije shop, Ocotlán Market for lunch and a family home to learn about backstrap weaving. We learned so much about Zapotec culture and history. Our second day with 7 of us (her husband, Javier, drove a second car) we went to Hierve El Agua, a small family run Mezcal factory, lunch at an organic market and last to Teotitlán del Valley to a rug place where every step of the rug making is done by hand. Betsy is wonderful. She is knowledgeable, accommodating to our needs and wishes and fun to be with. We also enjoyed meeting her husband and learning about her and family. I highly recommend her tours.

The town is tranquil & amazing, but all bus rides are terrible! I have tried all the busses. Its better to take a taxi, because the bus drivers whip the many twist & turns so fast, that many people vomit & the buses & you smell it for 4 hours. The driver ignores you with any request. They laugh about how many people get sick. No impressed. Choose another travel option.

We ran into Marco by the convento de Santo Domingo. We made us an offer that was reasonable. Let me say that Marco Rodriguez was the high Light of our trip. He took us to meet artisans that we would’ve never found. He was knowledgeable, professional, attentive and puntual. He normally is around the Paseo Turístico. It was a pleasure getting to explore Oaxaca under his guidance. Get his services!

We didn’t want to do a full day tour so it was really easy to just use the shuttle option. Evelyn, who helped us, was very nice and I was so thankful to her and the driver when they helped me retrieve my phone after having left it in the van.

Oaxaca is a magical city. The skies are deep blue in the heart of the valley. Women in embroidered huipiles, colourful houses, flowers on the trees, parades and local people garnish the streets. And then there's the street art. We will be walking around 3 neighbourhoods of the city visiting interesting spots, art workshops, and of course... street art. They are everywhere: big murals, stencils, posters. Oaxacan Artists are abundant and very talented. Its like visiting an outdoor museum. During the experience we will have time to visit some interesting galleries and artists.
Inclusions: Certified guide, Entries to workshops, Bottled water, Trail Mix: Organic snacks

We were out for half a day with the Coyote team. It was incredibly beautiful. We drove 1.5 hours to the starting point on a mountain. From there we went down to the valley on modern mountain bikes. Not too slow and still careful. It was perfect and we felt very well looked after. Afterwards we had a delicious lunch in the village with locals. Very personal and not at all touristy. We were shown how carpets are made on site. Then we went to another mountain for a sunset hike. This was spectacular with a gorgeous view. The team gave us a wonderful unforgettable day. We can heartily recommend it if you are looking for something outside the main tourist attractions with individual activities.
